1981 Aries Modular Synthesizer

Published on Jun 11, 2019 SynthDan1

"This is the first demo of my Aries Modular system. This large modular synthesizer was factory-built in 1981, and consists of a 5-octave keyboard, a 14-module cabinet, and an 11-module cabinet (with 10 modules installed), for a total of 24 modules. In total there are 6 oscillators + 2 LFOs, 3 filters, 4 envelope generators, 4 VCAs, a dual 8-step sequencer, ring modulator, phaser/chorus, spring reverb, and a host of other utility modules, including a pitch follower and an envelope follower. Cosmetically it's in incredible condition, has tons of original patch cables, and even includes the original shipping crates. There are plenty of dirty jacks and the keyboard is going to require a complete overhaul, but the system is about 80% functional at this time, and I'll do my best to restore it to as-new condition. It's a very rare synthesizer, and I'm proud to own it!"

Prophet 600 Synthesizer Vol. 2 GliGli Sound Demo Custom Patches - Sequential Circuits

Published on Jun 11, 2019 Tom Loncaric

"The Sequential Circuits Prophet 600 six-voice polyphonic synthesizer is incredibly versatile! This one was made in about 1983, and features the GliGli mod.

All sounds in the video were programmed by me and performed live, in the spirit of the big keyboard tones of the 1970’s and 1980’s."

"This is the first test run of my semi-modular homemade synthesizer. The sequence comes from the built in sequencer and the key changes are done via midi. The synth has two continiously variable waveform oscillators ( Kobol type ), two voltage controlled filters ( SSM 2044 Lp on the left, Steiner-Parker state variable on the right), one digital midi synchronizable LFO, one analog LFO, two ADSRs with trigger delay, bi-polar modulation routing switches and attenuators, one analog bucket-brigade delay module, digital overdrive, portamento and a 16 note sequencer.

I designed the front panel graphics and printed them with the help of a local professional silk screen printing craftsman. The panel sheet and all the holes were precision cut by CNC plasma cutter. The case is a modified old Teac tape recorder case."

"The Yamaha DX1 is the top-level member of Yamaha's prolific DX series of FM synthesizers. It features two sets of the same synthesizer chip set used in the DX7, allowing either double the polyphony, split of two voices, or dual (layered) instrument voices. In addition, it contains twice the amount of voice memory as the DX7. It has an independent voice bank for each of two synth channels (engines). Each of 64 performance combinations can be assigned a single voice number, or a combination of two voice numbers - one from channel A and one from channel B.

It includes a handmade Brazilian rosewood case, a 73-key weighted wooden keyboard with polyphonic after touch, comprehensive backlit LCD displays for instrument programming, and solid push-buttons as opposed to the membrane buttons on the DX7. Only 140 were produced.

This one is tested and working and will come with a nice anvil case to protect it. Sound Cartridges and music stand are included."
