Sounds of the Seventies Part 2 - Fixed Filter Bank Arps & Drones

Published on Nov 9, 2019

"The Fixed Filter Bank - A companion video to my last upload 'Sounds of the Seventies' in which I use my 70's-inspired modular synth to subjectively evoke some of my favourite synth music from that era: [posted here]

As promised, this video is focussing on the ways I've been using the AJH Synth Fixed Filter Bank 914 to sculpt my arp sounds, and create all-analogue, living, breathing mech-dragons out of just some simple pink noise.

Audio Damage Dubstation2 delay, EOS2 and ShimmerFX reverbs were added during recording.

I'd strongly recommend reading the description in the aforementioned video if you're interested in this module. It's based on the 914 fixed filter bank that could often be seen in the huge Moog Modular Model 55. Such an instrument I'd dream of owning, but could never afford, so having this monster in Eurorack along with the rest of the rig is pretty awesome. I got switched on to the FFB's by watching a demo of one in a Model 15 (much smaller than a 55, with a smaller 8 band FFB). It struck me that some of the sounds I'd admired from those early electronic albums were created using these modules.

Other related videos I'd recommend:
Analog Ambient Performance 1
Analog Ambient Performance 2

Both of which are works-in-progress for a future album.

My sincerest thanks to all who have supported me thus far.

Excuse the glitches in some of the footage - my MacBook packed up this week, so I had to revert to my 2006 Windows PC with budget software, which continually produces rendering errors. Hopefully I can get the Mac fixed ASAP, or else YouTube is toast :("

Seak ADM-5 . Czechoslovak analog drum modul.

This is the first Seak ADM-5 to be featured on the site. Be sure to check out the New Old label for more.

"Pure analog drum machine. Made in Slovakia (1989-1990) Some potentiometers are not clean yet, needs some maintenance, but sounds great...
I recommend using headphones=pan knobs :)

I trigger only 4 channels here (Snare, Kick, Tom3 and 4,), one pair is panned stereo jack from sequencer app in phone, and second pair is stereo jack from fruity loops, also panned."

Moog Memorymoog Plus with MIDI SN 1290 w/ Extras

"Up for sale is a vintage Moog Memorymoog Plus synthesizer, one of the coolest polysynths ever made. It has 18 oscillators (3 per voice) and each voice has a 24dB/octave low pass filter. The Memorymoog is often described architecturally as six Minimoogs in one unit.

The synth is been completely serviced in 2014 and still in perfect working condition. The service report is included in the sale.

The synth comes with a model 1120 cv pedal, the owner’s and technical manual, and a brochure from 1982.

Cosmetically it’s also in nice condition. Not mint, but still very good for its age. Especially the back panel has signs of use: a few scratches, wear and tear and some screws are missing.

At the front panel and keyboard you’ll find some very minor scratches. The wooden case has little signs of use as well. Please check all the photos for an overall impression of the condition.

It’s a 220v version and the serial number is: 1590."
