elinch new album "in between patches"

Published on Jan 30, 2020 Elinch

A new release from supporting member, Elinch.

"OUT NOW AS LIMITED CASSETTE OR AS A DOWNLOAD FROM SEIL RECORDS ON BANDCAMP!

https://seilrecords.bandcamp.com/albu...

'My new Album, performed on a modular synthesizer, consists of 23 individual pieces of 'in between patches'. Each of these patches can take up to two months until they are finalized. During that time, various records states to listen back, decide if something is missing, or whether a track should go in a completely different direction. These recordings often have a special spontaneous appeal, as they are not about perfection, but rather capture the temporary mood of a piece.

Making each of the album's parts a snapshot of an intimate moment - fleeting, evolving and disappearing.

Enjoy listening,
elinch'"

Cassette edition of 'in between patches' plus Seil Records organic cotton tote bag. These bags are sturdier, thicker and more reliable than your usual giveaway-bags with enough room to carry LPs, cassettes or groceries.

Includes unlimited streaming of in between patches via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more.

A Closer Look at the Roland System 700 from 1976!

Published on Jan 30, 2020 Alex Ball

"The Roland System 700 was a cutting edge and overly engineered masterpiece from 1976 that is both rare and curious.

As so few of these Systems were made, there's only a couple of dozen videos on YouTube showing them and several of those are just quick phone recordings.

So for posterity, I've made two videos featuring a System that I borrowed for a month in early 2020.

Here's the previous performance video [Roland System 700 | Axiom]

Here's the breakdown of this "Closer Look" video:

0:00 - Intro
0:51 - Sound 1 "Mud Flap Bass" Demonstration
1:36 - Sound 1 Explanation
3:04 - Sound 2 "Halley's Drumet" Demonstration
3:53 - Sound 2 Explanation
5:22 - Sound 3 "Rubbery Sequence" Demonstration
6:21 - Sound 3 Explanation
7:09 - Sound 4 "Threedemed" Demonstration
8:07 - Sound 4 Explanation
9:17 - Sound 5 "Womp-Womp" Demonstration
9:43 - Sound 5 Explanation
10:10 - Sound 6 "Follow My Lead" Demonstration
10:47 - Sound 6 Explanation
11:20 - Outro

All recordings are of the System 700 only and there are no external FX or tricks used at all. There's a bit of compression on the output of my DAW to level the audio for this video but it's otherwise the totally pure sound of the 700.

Huge thanks to the owner of this System and thank you for watching!"

Mixing in VCV Rack

Here is the patch - https://patchstorage.com/mixing-in-vc...
You can get the EQ-Master here - https://github.com/MarcBoule/MindMeld...

At around 26:00 I show how to bring back the reverb, but the right way would be to just connect the THRU output of Unmeld to the input of Meld.
Another thing, if you want to see the effects of the LP and HP filters of the channels on the EQ module, you'll have to set them (in the right-click menu) to pre-insert."

The Galaxy Electric - Cosmic Tape Music - Improvised Modular Performance - To the Moon

Published on Jan 30, 2020 The Galaxy Electric

"Thanks for listening! Come on a musical voyage with us where we'll send you a new song every day, a cosmic story, and a chance to earn space treasure: https://thegalaxyelectric.lpages.co/5...

Today's trip involves a minimal yet sonically rich pairing; Buchla Music Easel, Vocals, and Tape Delay.

Come with us to the pale lit moon surface. We loop our dynamic and multifaceted modular synthesizer using the Monome Grid and MLR as well as a Pigtronix Infinity Looper synced via MIDI clock. The result is an ever evolving moon inspired sound scape that breaks into a banging groove post the 26 minute marker. We explore many of the various aspects of what the Buchla Music Easel has to offer. It is an endless fount of sound creation and manipulation.

we have NO idea what these performances are going to be. We literally turn on our gear and start sound-checking and before we know it, we have traveled to another planet!

Equipment used:
Buchla Music Easel
Roland RE-20 Space Echo Pedal
Pigtronix Infinity Looper
Monome Grid controlling MLR {re:mix Max for Live app}
