crOwBX 2.4 Voice Card. First Test

Published on May 27, 2020 TjimmyChonga

"Here's a first test of a crOwBX 2.4 voice card using a custom digital controller board.
The crOwBX is a clone of the legendary Oberheim OB-X, and one day I hope to finish a digitally controlled OB-X clone, using the crOwBX voice cards, but adding additional features, like multi timbral, modulations, etc.
This is not something I anticipate being done soon, given that I got these voice cards two years ago, but one day... In the meantime I keep changing the scope of the project so I'm not in a hurry."

Metroid Music - Kraid's Lair (Synth Cover)

Published on May 27, 2020 GLASYS

"My live arrangement of the Kraid's Lair theme from the original NES Metroid game, performed on the Prophet XL, Moog Matriarch and Therevox ET-4.

My Prophet X patch has multiple layers - a slow morphing synth, a piano, a choir, and some big drums that I bring in and out using an expression pedal.
That fast squiggly synth is also layered with the Prophet and was programmed with Steinberg Retrologue.
The Therevox is running through the Chase Bliss Audio MOOD and Thermae pedals.
The Moog uses it's own great stereo delay, as well as some Valhalla Shimmer.

New video every Wednesday! For the next few weeks, I'll be focusing on #Metroid music!"

Richard Horsman's Lockdown Lab - The MidiThing emerges...

Published on May 27, 2020 Richard Horsman

"I've been coding/tinkering with/swearing at something, Something to initially generate beats and send them via MIDI to my modular and to sync the whole shebang with Ableton Live. This is the first step towards something more innovative - decoding images and playing 'listenable-to' modular tunage based on the data found in them. Rough camera work and iPhone audio seem to be my hallmark! I'm pleased with the sexy reset routine that shortest-path-eases all the dials back to their starting points. It features towards the end of the video for about 0.5 seconds - well worth the day of brow furrowing and hair pulling! For bonus points see if you can spot when the phrase 'ticking' switches from 'Rolex' to 'Timex' mode :)"

GRP A-2 // ROME DRONES // A2 // 3

Published on May 27, 2020 LESINDES

"My GRP A-2 is broken. The envelopes won't trigger any more. That's a pity but not a catastophe -- Ther is so much synth left -- it is a highly capable synth with a lush sound -- warm and singing but still precise. Sohow about some drones? ROME DRONES to be specific. The result of this emergency performance is published here.
This is PART 1.

PART 1: Pure GRP A-2 singing tibetian monk like overtones etc.
PART 2: GRP A-2 with some analog echo enhancement -- TC ELECTRONIC ECHOBRAIN stomp box.
PART 3: Technoid Ryhthms."

Make Noise 0-CTRL With a 1973 Moog Modular

Published on May 27, 2020 Perfect Circuit

"The Make Noise 0-CTRL is a sequencer and touch keyboard in the same form factor as the 0-Coast. Like the 0-Coast the 0-CTRL has roots in both east and west coast synthesizers as it has features of both the Moog 960 sequencer and the Serge TKB, and also some fun new additions. We had a 1973 Moog Model 12 system with a highpass filter and filter coupler so we decided to use that with the 0-CTRL.

The 0-CTRL is an 8 step sequencer with 3 rows of CV outputs, one row is normalized to a CV output so that you could control the pitch or another parameter of you synthesizer. The second row is normalized to a dynamic gate generator which can output gates of varying voltage levels for more dynamic sequences, there is also a built in envelope generator which we are using here instead of the envelopes in the Moog system. The third row is normalized to the time control of the sequencer clock so that you can create sequences where each step varies in time. The 0-CTRL is not just a sequencer but also a touch keyboard with pressure CV out similar to Pressure Points.
