Kawai S-100F: First check up of basic functions

video upload by Synthfluencer

"I recently purchased a new friend for the Synthcave: The Kawai Synthesizer 100F. This gem was born around 1980 and for many synthesists it is an instrument they would never give away because of its unique sound. Basically my device is in a good overall condition but it desperately needs a service. Many faders don't work as they should and I'm not sure if I want to know what I'm going to find when I open it up 😳 In this video I'm checking some basic features and try to figure out how the signal flow works."

Sequential OB-6 Tutorial Lesson 2: Oscillators

video upload by EthanJamesMusic

"This is a tutorial series for anyone who wants to learn how to do their own sound design using the Sequential Circuits (former Dave Smith Instruments) OB-6 synthesizer. The goal is to break this subject down into understandable and digestible bits of information that you can apply to your own electronic music. I am primarily a media or film composer, so we will learn ambient, techno, and EDM style sound design using the synth."

Kama Sutra Lovers and Modcan

This one was sent in via John L Rice who noticed the prototype modules.

You can find additional pics at Kama Sutra Lovers site here.

P.S. You can find a great shot of Diana from Kama Sutra Lovers with Elektron gear prevoiusly posted here.

From the Modcan post:

"We had the pleasure of meeting with Bruce Duncan when we were picking up our Modcan synth modules.

Bruce Duncan the founder of Modcan builds the modules by hand and there is a long waiting list so we were excited to be finally getting our pieces. For us these are our favourite modular synths as the sound is mega-phat and the large size is super ergonomic and fun to work with. Needless to say, the build quality is superlative and sets the standard!"

Gotharman's Urano: STARGAZER-inspired Modular Synth Patch Demo #TTNM

video upload by THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES

"Møffenzeef's open-source STARGAZER wavetable drone synth has intrigued me for a long time. So I tried to create a patch on my Gotharman Urano modular synthesizer inspired by it. Of course, if you want the real deal, you need to buy or build an actual Stargazer, but I was interested to see where I would end up with that challenge on Gotharman's Urano.

I patched two wavetable oscillators into a lowpass filter module, from there onwards to the Gotharman bit crusher effect, into another lowpass filter and at the end of the chain into a virtual distortion module. Since I only had nine knobs at my disposal on the Urano, I chose to toggle LFO modulation on and off via switches at the bottom, with LFO rates also being controlled by the parameter knobs. So dual knob assignments, like on the Benjolin. It's fun. The wavetables I used are from the user repository at https://waveeditonline.com. They're way less wild than on the original Stargazer, so I'll experiment some more on that front.

Korg Modwave: Ambient Presets. Pads, Strings, Soundscape

video upload by Anton Anru

"'Ambient World' is a collection of 50 atmospheric performances for Korg Modwave. It includes: 17 Pads, 14 Strings, 7 Drones, 12 Textures.

The presets are suitable for any type of arrangement. Initially, a preset is simple and can perform a role of a background pad/strings timbre in any track. But if you start turning Mod Knobs up, launch movement with Kaoss Physics, raise ModWheel the preset gets complicated, moving and evolving, bigger and richer, it transforms its tone, and it may become a lead part of ambient (or any experimental) track. Thus, a preset can be easily and smoothly changed from simple to complex, that makes the whole soundset multipurpose.
