I thought the price was a bit too good at only $689.00 for this one, but it's disfunctional. This one is for the techs/DIYers out there.

"FUNCTIONING WITH DEFECTS

This is a very rare example of the Vermona MARS synthesizer and Control unit.

The Control unit is responding as it should with the head unit, and all menus and buttons seem to also be working on the head unit.

Known issues:

Head unit produces sound and is affected by keyboard presses, but for some reason the LFO keeps running and cannot be turned off, also the Filter and Envelope Generator are not responding (even though the Control unit changes their parameters)

This could be a great project for someone looking to repair and get a great deal on this very rare synth, or get the head unit for parts and a fully functioning Control Unit."

bloom

video upload by infinitedigits

https://github.com/schollz/bloom

this script aims to replicate the “bloom” app by Brian Eno and Peter Chilvers that was released in 2008. the major functionality persists: clicking on the grid / screen will create circles and sounds that grow and disappear. multiple touches will create sequences that also eventually fade away. the sounds belong to scales with alien names like "ambrette", "benzoin", "bergamot", "labdanum", "neroli", "orris", "tolu", "vetiver", and "ylang" - all which were painstakingly captured from the original app (PARAMS > scale). also, like the app, the norns script has an “evolve when idle” function (PARAMS > evolve when idle), and toggles for randomization (PARAMS > randomize).

there are major differences between the "bloom" app and the "bloom" norns script. its difficult to obtain 100% the same sounds of the app so I did my best with my synthesis knowledge to create a similar sounds with SuperCollider. the sounds I have are a bell-like feedback sine sound which can be mixed with a kalimba sample (swapping between acoustic and synthetic) (PARAMS > blend). the drone notes are taken from the scale, as in the app, but the switching between drones is not precisely the same.

another change is the introduction of "lanes" (PARAMS > lanes). this essentially splits the grid into multiple lanes where each lane is a separate sequencer. by default there is one lane, but you can have one lane for each row on your grid.

FarCoast | 0-Coast, 0-Ctrl, Strega

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"I did a drum patch yesterday and right after posting I recorded a jam I liked very much. So even though I am using the same modules as the day before, this patch is completely different, mainly because 0-coast is the main voice. It's a simple patch, designed to stack itself up by using delay and short loops. Using a scale creates the illusion of polyphony even though 0-coast is mono. Using Strega as a support voice doesn't create polyphony or duophony, but a multi-timbral mono patch. Telharmonic is making creative noise effects. Using a quantiser like the O_C is crucial for offering the freedom to tweak 0-Ctrl's pitch lanes so whatever you tweak will come out as a 'proper' note. While it may be interesting to go 'unquantized because it's designed that way', I don't believe a module dictates how you should use it. The only rules that apply are your own.

1/4/24 Technosaurus Cyclodon sequences Microcon + Peavey DDL-3 + CXM 1978 (paper pill bun, softer)

video upload by Cfpp0

"Changed a couple notes on the Technosaurus Cyclodon, but this is more or less the sequence as in the 1/3/24 video, just slower, with a different delay on the Peavey DDL-3, and a smoother, less grainy reverb on the Chase Bliss CXM 1978."
