Charlotte the Cat is concerned about the "String Thing"

via Lee Tizzard (L.T):

"My friend dug out his old 1978 Paia Strings N' Things synth for me to check out.

He has replaced the tolex case with custom pine enclosure and has also modified the outputs
to have individual outs for the string and piano sounds.

Charlotte the Cat is concerned about the "String Thing"

And she has a few thoughts of her own about it."

Note the Moog pillow in the background.

Miles and his Custom Painted Moog EatherWave Plus Theremin

This one in via L.T.

"After my beloved orange four legged companion 'Charlotte the Cat' passed on and ascended high into SynthCat heaven, I have realized that Charlotte was always annoyed with my collection of electronic keyboards and audio gadgets, (see the old Charlotte the cat photos at Matrixsynth)

I have since adopted a wonderful. large 4 yr old, 4 legged orange companion - Miles the Cool SynthCat.

See attached photo of Miles the cool SynthCat, chillin' and relaxin' with the Moog EatherWave Plus Theremin... looks like Miles has a much better attitude when it comes to sharing his space with Electronic Music Keyboards ,Gadgets and Gizmos.

What do you think.... anyone have a caption for these SynthCat photos?"

The theremin is painted with green marine enamel for boats.

Yamaha CS-01 Documentation and Charlotte the Cat

via Lee Tizzard

"Here are a few pics of my Yamaha cs-01 and documentation ( the original manual and product info./ ad )

Included in these pics is a captioned pic of Charlotte the cat revealing a common misnomer about the little cs-o1 "analogue" synth. (perhaps you could post on your fine MATRIXSYNTH site)

About 5 years ago I came across a site that retro-fitted all older mono analogue synths with MIDI, but noticed that the CS-01 was not on their list.

So I emailed them and asked if they could MIDI retrofit my CS-01 and how much it would cost, they responded saying "first I would have to get it modified with Gates an CV's, because the CS-01's VCO was actually a DCO."

The cost would have been about $250, so I passed.

Now I see that Highlyliquid will MIDI retrofit a CS-01 without the need for gates or cv's for less than $50.

Cheers,

Lee"

Korg Mono/Poly Filtered & Charlotte The Cat

A couple of cool filtered shots of the KORG Mono/Poly in via Lee Tizard.

On a sad note Charlotte pictured below passed away recently at the age of 18. Those of you that have been following the site for some time, know that cats have conspicuously turned up in numerous synth pics and videos over the years. So much so that they have became somewhat of a meme and I actually created a label for them. Charlotte has been featured a few times on the site as you can see here. Those of you that have lost a pet you have cared for over the years can understand the loss.  I know I have.  If you treat them well,  pets are companions that will always have your back.  18 years is a good long life for a cat.  Cheers to Charlotte.

Mystery Rhythm Machine - Barns & Mullins Percussionet 20

This one in via LT. If you have more info on it, please leave a comment or email (icon bottom right of site).

"I recently picked up an old rhythm machine at an estate sale, It's called a Percussionet 20, made by Barns & Mullins, London, England.

I think it may be rare because I could not come up with any info about this unit online anywhere, even tried Emailing Barns & Mullins twice, but they never responded.

Perhaps one of your readers may have some info about this oddity.

It will play all of the rhythm styles such as ( Fx - Foxtrot, Tw -Twist, Ch - Cha Cha, Tg- Tango etc.) at the same time, so you can combine various rhythms, also you can select and de-select the individual instruments in the rhythms such as: Snare, Tom Tom, Side, Bass, Bongo etc.

Rear has Hi and Lo output and ¼ " footswitch input that starts and stops the rhythms.

Add some verb and delay or modulation effects and it sounds pretty incredable.

As usual, Charlotte the cat has her own thoughts about my Percussionet 20, see attached photos."
