Funny to see this CD popping up again. I created the Samples of MS20, CS50 and Microwave and all was a private effort of people on rec.music.synth years ago.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, excellent synths and cool sounds...
Georg.
Hi Georg - Good to see you around! These discs are from the original production run. The sad thing is that many of the instruments on the disc are getting hard to find in working condition (at sane prices). I wish I'd kept the Oberheim OB-1 and Rhodes Chroma, but I sold them in the mid 1990s to buy a beige PowerMac.
ReplyDeleteIn addition to Georg Mueller, nine other synthesists on two continents contributed samples (on DAT) of their instruments to The Analog Collection in the summer of 1993.
ReplyDeleteThe disc was compiled using some early Digidesign software on a second-hand Mac IIx from Bell Labs. My audio hard drive was only a 160 Megabytes, so the disc was edited together in sections onto digital two-track. It sounds archaic, but the end result was brilliant -- it captured the magical sound of people who really knew and loved their machines.

ReplyDeleteI did the Yamaha CS-5, Prophet 600, Juno 106 and SixTrak sounds
