Jordan Rudess plays the Syner-V modern virtual synthesizer from Syntronik 2

video upload by

"Watch Jordan Rudess plays one of the classic synths of Syntronik 2 - the Syner-V. The Syner-V is based on the Digital Keyboards Synergy ii+ with its wide range of unique soundscapes and glassy, metallic tones. Although it did not officially use the term 'FM' due to Yamaha’s trademark, the Synergy did employ the same basic technology of the GS and DX series as well as the Synclavier FM synthesis."

Jordan Rudess plays the OSC-V modern virtual synthesizer from Syntronik 2

video upload by ikmultimedia

"Watch Jordan Rudess plays one of the classic synths of Syntronik 2 - the OSC-V. The OSC-V is based on the Classic analog-filtered digital monosynth sounds of the Oxford Synthesiser Company OSCar, a British classic. Sometimes called the 'British Minimoog,' the OSCar can sound deceptively analog and ultra-fat despite its digital oscillators."

EarthBound Soundtrack Played On A Super Rare Synthesizer ✨🌏✨

video upload by Critical Beach Town

"These days, the Synergy is a super rare synthesizer to come across in the wild. Originally produced in 1982, it is estimated that less than 100 are still in operation across the globe. Interestingly, it ran off cartridges, something it had in common with the Super Nintendo!

Recently, I had the opportunity to recreate some of my favorite music from EarthBound on a Synergy. This video demonstrates some of the sound textures the synthesizer is capable of, while showcasing a beloved soundtrack through a unique lens.

"This is a completely restored Synergy II+ in a perfect condition and the best possible bundle you could imagine. It's up for sale:"

via this auction

"Hello. My name is Andrei Kudryavtsev. You probably know this because you're tracking my listings. This is a completely restored Synergy II+ in a perfect condition and the best possible bundle you could imagine.

Following upgrades have been performed on this system:

New power supply for a digital section, way more efficient and robust. Re-cap'ed analog power supply. instagram.com/p/BjmGR4WgLH3/
Upgraded cooling for less noise and better airflow.
New II+ upgrade board by Bob Grieb from Tauntek. This adds II+ Serial and MIDI connectivity, latest OS and 23 cartridges pre-load and accessible with a push of a button.
Cleaned boards, keyboard contacts
Everything is working. Comes together with a Kaypro computer running editing software (mint, same restoration cycle, upgraded power supply, two floppy emulators for Drive A and Drive B). Comes with Raspberry Pi and an optimized Kaypro emulator as well as Synergize control software.

All work is carefully documented and available in my Instagram with all dates it was performed. instagram.com/deftaudio/

This system needs a new home, a person who will be using it to make the music and not being distracted by common failures. All of those have been addressed to make your life easier and bring new life into this wonderful machine. I should say a disclaimer anyway, that as is a vintage gear....it may fail any moment...and obviously no return offered. However, I'm offering you my help in learning this great machine, and so you get 10 hours of my time at no charge. You can use it for whatever you want - set up and install online, learning session, tutorials, technical support etc... I want to make you happy.

What's included into the package:

1. DK Synergy II+

2. Kaypro Computer

3. Raspberry Pi

4. Apple Monitor, Apple Keyboard, Apple Mouse

5. Serial switch box and all required serial cables and adapters

6. All necessary cables."

Note the listing states it is analog. The DK Synergy is actually digital. Check out this demo. You can find others in the archives here.

"Bench tested, all key contacts were cleaned, fan cleaned, and buttons functioning normal. All bank, all sliders, functioning normally; sustain pedal is original and works. Wood cabinet is very clean for its age; a few scuffs but pictures accurately represent all around condition of the DK Synergy."

DKI SYNERGY II+ SYNTHESIZER WITH KAYPRO IV

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
Published on Aug 8, 2018 AlphaStudio

via this auction

"This Synergy II+ comes with 41 Kaypro floppy discs. It has the crucial Kaypro CP/M boot disc (two copies, of course — without the boot disc, the Kaypro won’t work). There’s also a disc of the SYNHCS 3.18 program disc two copies, and Synergy Voice Library discs L1 through L13, Synergy Voice Cart discs 1 through 6, and Wendy Carlos voice banks 1, 2,3 ,4 and 20 Synergy Voice Library discs with custom voices.

You also get a stack of documentation showing how to use the Synergy II+, including the original Synergy I manual, the addendum covering the Synergy II+, and a user’s guide to the SYNHCS.

A CP/M manual covering issues like the syntax for PIP. On CP/M, you use PIP.COM to copy programs from one floppy disk to another. CP/M is different from DOS — you can’t use the COPY command the same way you can on DOS. You use SYSGEN to create a bootable Kaypro floppy disc, for example. The CP/M manual shows you how to do all this.

Schematic circuit diagrams for the guts of the Synergy II+ in case you ever need them. I never have, but what the heck. You might as well get everything.

A quick-start cheat sheet I’ve written to get you up and running. This shows you how to get the Kaypro 2 and the Synergy II+ up and running together and running SYNHCS quickly, so you can start making music."

SYNERGY SYNTHESIZER

"Here's the moment you've been waiting for, a fully restored fully functional Synergy keyboards with lots of extras. This might be one of the most complete packages you'll find for a Synergy these days. An extremely rare synth & impossible to find in these final versions in fully functioning condition with midi. It's in excellent cosmetic shape & even includes a Kaypro 10, Wendy Carlos cartridge & more. See below for all the info. The sound on this Synergy is really surprising for a digital keyboard - it's rich, lush, organic, warm. An awesome keyboard to say the least, and an incredible piece of synthesizer history. According to VintageSynthExplorer, " it is estimated that less than 100 may still be in operation today....A working Synergy is a great and rare find. A working Synergy with some tone cartridges and a working Kaypro 10 computer is an even greater (and rarer) find!"

Synergy DK1 Synthesizer GDS w/ Custom Cool Red & Blue Capped Knobs

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"This fine specimen is in full working order. No aftermarket modifications (besides the knobs which were lost), the original fan is still in place. I opted to put a quieter one in my MKII. Few demos exist of this early FM synth but with some youtube searching you can find some terrible ones mostly.

Its alright cosmetically with no major breaks or problems. Yes there are dings to the corners and nicks on the surface but no more than to be expected for this type of age. I plan to list more photos tonight.

I have restored 3 of them and this is a mark 1. I have a mark 2 that offers the Kaypro II connectivity and I do not have a need for the mark 1 so with reluctance I am taking offers. There is an aftermarket kit available that lets you make a mark 1 a mark 2 but I didn't want to go down that road at this point.

Besides, its rarity and place in musical FM history are undeniable."

SCI PROPHET 5 + DK SYNERGY + KORG MONOPOLY + STEINER PARKER SYNTHACON ~ Vintage Synthesizer Museum

Published on Jun 2, 2017 once upon a synth

"Demo of the Sequential Circuits Prophet 5, DK Synergy, Korg Monopoly and Steiner Parker Synthacon. The Prophet 5 is a vintage analog polysynth, the Synergy is a vintage digital polysynth, the Monopoly is a vintage paraphonic analog synth and the Synthacon is a vintage analog monosynth. I start off by playing melodic music and end with more experimental sounds on the Synthacon. I recorded these demos at the Vintage Synthesizer Museum here in California. Some light reverb was applied in post via ValhallaDSP Room."

Vintage 80s DK Synergy II version 2.45

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Holiday Greetings fellow synth lovers. Here we have a DK Synergy II with flight case, pedal (you need the pedal connected so the portamento will engage, it was around 1997 that I read this in the manual and it relieved a lot of frustration), and original manuals (not a copy) for the serial interface and operation of the Synergy itself.

This DKII is version 2.45 and is a transitional instrument for DK before they moved on to the DKII+ with midi.

With the serial port you are able to load sounds, attach the Synergy to a sequencer, and the best feature is you can slave the DKII to another DKII or DKII+ for double the DK power and sound, connecting them to each other's serial port. I've done this and it sounds insane with some of the more aggressive sounding patches.

The complete manual for all these operations is thankfully included. The manual for the serial interface is very in depth.

This unit powers on and works great."

Vintage Digital Keyboards Synergy II+ 1983 Near Mint Synthesizer

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Here we have for sale a very rare 1983 Digital Keyboards Synergy II+ It is estimated that there are less than 100 left in the world, and this is the nicest example I have seen or heard of. The only things showing wear are some of the accessories. Included accessories: Kaypro II computer (Mint), all software, serial cable (Cable is missing casing on one end but it is fully functional %100 of the time and you cant see it once it is plugged in), original Synergy Users manual and all documentation, 3 voice cartridges, original foot pedal, and anvil road case. The synth has the name J. Burwell stenciled on the top in what appears to be transparent paint. It is only visible with a light shined on it, pretty weird. The foam inside the case is old and coming apart but the synth is wrapped up in sheets while it is in the case. The case does its job but will need to be refoamed. This is a 100% fully functional system."

Digital Keyboards Synergy Vintage Polyphonic Synthesizer

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Up for sale, a Digital Keyboards Synergy model polyphonic synthesizer in exceptional, near mint condition and in perfect working order. Of the estimated 700-800 Synergy keyboards originally produced, it's estimated that less than 100 are still in existence, and this example is easily one of the cleanest and most complete, with the original pedal, manual, and paperwork. This synthesizer was produced from 1982-85, and Digital Keyboards was a high-end US-based division of the Italian company Crumar. Using a high speed additive oscillator system developed by Bell Laboratories, Digital Keyboards created a sophisticated additive synthesizer known as the Crumar General Development System (GDS). While the GDS originally had a price tag of a whopping $27,500, the Synergy was a moderately stripped down version that sold for a mere $5,300 (roughly $13,000 when adjusted for inflation). A favorite of pioneering electronic music composer Wendy Carlos and a synth that has inspired a fervent following, the Synergy was state of the art in its time and is an enduring classic today.

The cosmetic condition of this Synergy is exceptional, as evidenced by the photos, with only a couple light scuffs on the plastic top and tolexed exterior. The original dual foot pedal is included, along with an IEC power cable, the manual, and other original paperwork."
