Karlax by DA FACT

Thomas Goguelin plays Karlax from da fact on Vimeo.

"Karlax is the first wireless controller to re-establish the artist’s body at the heart of the Digital Arts performance. This instrument’s revolutionary ergonomic design uses the artist’s own natural movements for an unlimited freedom in the creation and artistic expression."

http://www.dafact.com/
"Karlax, an instrument designed exclusively for digital arts

Karlax was introduced for the first time at the Musikmesse of Frankfurt in March 2010 and is available for sale since December.

Karlax is the result of 10 years of research and development in the best french laboratories. It is the first wireless intrument to play and interpret electronic music on stage.

With revolutionary ergonomics and a wireless technology, Karlax replaces the artist at the center of the performance, granting a simple and intuitive access to natural gestures and bringing a new dimension of expressivity to the electronic performance, letting the artist break free from the limits of traditional controllers and other computer related interfaces.

Karlax fits naturally into the chain of creation and digital expression and allows to operate and expand the potential of all existing software and hardware for composition, recording, editing and interpretation.

The use of Karlax does not require any special technical training and is therefore accessible to all who are attracted by the new digital ways of expression.
The community

In a few months, a community of users and supporters has started to emerge. Its diversity surprisingly reflects the potential of the instrument: artists ranging from musicians and DJs to dancers and composers, from many different countries, from electro-acoustic to electronic music, have shown their interest in Karlax. For instance, in June, as part of the Tom Mays's class "New technologies applied to music composition" at the National Conservatory of Paris, a new group has started to work on writing electroacoustic music for Karlax."

Musikmesse: Pushing boundaries with the Karlax controller

YouTube via ArKaosMix — April 15, 2010 — "Here is the Karlax controlling GrandVJ and some audio samples in the same time.
You can switch layers, triggers visuals, select next and previous effects, move the visual position and control effect parameters.
The gesture control the video loop speed.
This is just an example of what could be done, the mapping was done just in time the Frankfurt music and show exhibition."

this is NOT a wind controller, just a kind of keyboard with 3D Sensor, the sound source was reaktor.."
