Modal COBALT8 VST? Someone Actually Emulated It

video upload by Autodafe

"Someone has recreated the Modal COBALT8 in software… and this thing is seriously promising.

This is an early look at a 1:1 software emulation of the original COBALT8, developed with the help of AI and vibe coding by someone on the web.

At the moment it’s still pretty heavy on the CPU, so there’s definitely room for optimization — but sound-wise? It already sounds very, very good.

In this quick NO TALKING video I’m just taking it for a spin and checking out a few sounds.

I can’t provide a direct download link publicly, but hey… if you’re curious, you might want to have a look around my website. There may be a bit more information there. 😉

As always: this is an unofficial project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Modal Electronics."

Modal ARGON8 vs COBALT8 vs CARBON8: What's Actually Different Between the Three Synth Engines?

video upload by Modal Electronics

"ARGON8, COBALT8, CARBON8 — the same 8-voice chassis, the same FATAR keybed, the same modulation framework. But when you actually open up the engines, they take three completely different sonic paths.

This video takes a deep dive into the core engine differences between the three synthesizers:

🔹 ARGON8 — Wavetable synthesis. 32 wavetable oscillators, 180 wavetables, 32 waveform modifiers. Suited to constantly evolving textures.

🔹 COBALT8 — Extended virtual analogue. 64 VA oscillators, 40 algorithms. Chasing classic analogue warmth, but with digital flexibility.

🔹 CARBON8 — XCore experimental digital engine. 56 digital cores ×2, 18 algorithms + 38 wavetables. Generating new waveforms rather than selecting waveforms.

📩 Mail: info@synthonia.com

Ambika for Modal Element One is a 50-preset soundset built around organic motion, cinematic depth and expressive electronic colour.

This demo presents a sound bank designed for musicians, producers and sound designers who want to explore the deeper and more atmospheric side of Modal Element One.

The sound direction of Ambika moves through massive strings, deep evolving pads, drones, film-score textures, powerful basses, arps, sequences, cosmic plucks and expressive synth keys. These presets are made to bring movement into a track: pads evolve, textures breathe, sequences create pulse, and basses add weight and structure.

Ambika is not just a collection of static synth sounds. It focuses on sounds that can support full musical ideas: cinematic intros, ambient passages, soundtrack layers, experimental sections, electronic grooves and action-oriented arrangements.

Inside this soundset you will hear organic pads, spacious atmospheres, deep motion textures, Berlin-style sequences, cosmic keys and expressive synth tones shaped to give Modal Element One a wider production role.

If you create ambient music, cinematic soundscapes, electronic tracks, experimental textures or soundtrack-inspired compositions, Ambika gives you a focused and musical palette of 50 presets ready to play."

ELEMENT Essentials: Arp Fun

video upload by Modal Electronics

"Unlock the rhythmic heart of ELEMENT One. 🧠🎶 In this deep-dive ELEMENT Essentials episode, we're dissecting the programmable 32-step arpeggiator—a feature that blurs the line between arpeggiator and full-fledged sequencer.

Unlike traditional arpeggiators that simply cycle through notes, ELEMENT One's arp engine lets you program intricate patterns with rest functionality. This opens up a world of possibilities for generative rhythms, evolving textures, and complex melodic sequences that can drive an entire track.

We'll walk you through every parameter, from step division and swing to playback direction and octave range. Whether you're programming a simple bass line or a multi-octave melodic cascade, this tutorial covers it all."

ELEMENT Essentials: ELEMENT One Sound Design Tips - Experimental and Keys

video upload by Modal Electronics

"Unlock the sonic stratosphere. 🚀 In this deep-dive ELEMENT Essentials episode, we're dissecting the architecture of experimental keys and complex soundscapes.

While traditional synthesis relies on static waveforms, experimental sound design thrives on movement, dissonance, and unpredictability. We'll show you how to harness ELEMENT's advanced modulation matrix, oscillator algorithms, and signal routing to craft sounds that evolve with every note you play.

From FM-derived bell tones that dissolve into noise, to lush, cinematic pads that shift their harmonic content over minutes—this tutorial is for producers who want to push synthesis beyond the ordinary."
