Todd Barton Pulses Buchla Nomad Release

Published on Jun 5, 2020 Todd Barton

"June 5, 2020 my new 7" 45 rpm single of Buchla goodness via my Bandcamp https://toddbarton.bandcamp.com
Deep gratitude to my patrons at https://www.patreon.com/synthtodd
for their ongoing support, enthusiasm, curiosity and creativity!!
Mastering by Nathan Moody at Obsidian Sound http://obsidiansound.net
Jacket design by Bruce Bayard https://brucebayard.com
And endless thanks to producer/visionary Greg Christie
Best wishes, Todd"

Two of my favorite contrasting tracks using the Buchla Music Easel, Buchla 200e, Buchla 100 and the Haken Continuum. The high energy of Pulses is contrasted with the ambient/world music vibe of Buchla Nomad.

Anciana SD032 by Tonylight of LepLoop Featuring the Arpopone+Multicassa+0coast

English translation below.

(Tonylight, 2020)"

Googlish:

"Last summer in the mountains I recorded about 90 live songs, like jazz but electronic improvisation, let's say, using two of our lep instruments: 3

Leploop Multicassa and a Harpopone, plus some effects. I purposely limited myself in the set up to stay more focused and creative. Then in late 2019 I asked my friend Philippa Nicole Barr to make a selection of the 90 tracks. Australian freelance journalist from Sydney based Wire that I met in Milan in 2012 for an article on the Milanese experimental music scene, Philippa seemed to me the most suitable person to help me in this impossible selection, also stimulated by his distance from Milan.

So Philippa selected 5 \ 7 tracks, I suggested another pair and in the end we kept 6.
Philippa suggested that I title the tracks with some names in Italian because more particular, exotic sounds would be played abroad.

So I found the names of some edible wild herbs that are collected in Val Trompia, where I have the house and I have finalized the tracks. Anciana is the name of an edible wild herb in the Valtrumpino dialect.
Then Philippa asked her Australian sound friend to do the master, David Matthew, an electronic music producer who also calls himself B.I.N.T.

Then I asked my friend Judy Rhum if she wanted to think about the cover. Barnaba liked everything so much that, besides making it come out for his label Sangue Disken, he also made a video for the song 'Farinel', all shot from his mom's home window, where he is blocked from the beginning the lockdown caused by Covid-19. Published on May 5, 2020 The Vinyl Factory

This one was spotted and sent in via Joshuag.

"David & Stephen Dewaele (aka Soulwax/2manydjs) have always been fascinated by collecting instruments and recording gear. Their passion hasn’t been born by completism: every new item inspires a world of possibilities. The one item that always eluded them was the EMS Synthi 100—a huge and rare analogue synthesizer, of which there were only 31 ever produced, that can create a near infinite array of sounds."

FEF by NYZ

"The delightfully titled FEF consists of pieces made on the Yamaha TX802 synth, driven by his self-designed MANIAC cellular automata sequencer. Glassy FM tones and microtonal tunings make for eerily melodic, playfully exploratory pieces.

NYZ is UK Midlands born, New South Wales based Dave Burraston, who also operates variously as Noyzelab, Dave Noyze and Bryen Telko. He's studied and worked with audio synthesis and computer science since the 1970s, culminating in a 2006 PhD thesis on Generative Music & Cellular Automata. Musical collaborators have included Oren Ambarchi, Russell Haswell and Aphex Twin (with whom he conducted the technically revealing 2014 'SYROBONKERS!' interview), and has had releases on labels such as Entr'acte, Fractal Meat Cuts and Important Records.

released May 1, 2020

Recorded Sept 2018 & Feb 2019 / Mixed January 2020 at Noyzelab.

"In the last couple of months, I've recorded every week a piece of music, practicing and learning my setup, and I thought that maybe it's a good idea to collect a few of those pieces and release them as a sort of a collection album. 20Objects Podcast 321: Omri Cohen

Published on Apr 12, 2020 20Objects

An interview with supporting member, Omri Cohen.

"When one of the listeners suggested Omri Cohen for an interview, I had to do a little research. And 'a little' is key - one quick search on YouTube made it clear that this was someone I'd want to talk to. And once we started chatting, we got on a roll - Omri is a great cat, and is so open to sharing, that we got on like brothers.

Whether it's talking about his background or his approach to hybrid modular systems, he combines a deep understanding about what he's doing with a relaxed way of explaining that causes everything to immediately make sense. That's an amazing gift - and makes him one of the most effective tutorial-makers out there.

If you want to check out his videos, the easiest way is to check out his channel. He also releases music on Bandcamp - some of which he features as 'Making Of..." options on his video channel - at https://omricohencomposer.bandcamp.com/. I love his work, and this has really inspired me to make some interesting work in our now-isolated meta-world.

Enjoy!"

Codex by David Bessell

New from supporting member, David Bessel.

"Codex, track One from the new release 'Reality Engine' on DiN records. Download and CD here https://din.org.uk/album/reality-engi..."

Dave Bessell Reality Engine DiN62

Release date 17th April 2020

Limited to 500 copies Digipak CD

Bar Code 5028423200628

Dave Bessell is a familiar name for followers of the DiN label for his previous solo release, “Black Horses Of the Sun” (DiN47), his two collaborations with Parallel Worlds (DiN41 & 56) and being a founder member of synth supergroup Node (DiN44 & 55).

This latest downtempo electronica solo release sees Bessell indulge his passion for literature in compositions inspired by the writings of Jorge Luis Borges, the Brothers Grimm and Lord Dunsany. The tracks are coloured with a strong flavour of magic realism - think “Pan’s Labyrinth” or “The Science Of Sleep”. Sonically “Reality Engine” draws on a whole variety of musical influences, from classical to psybient taking in innovative analogue modular sound design and expansive evolving musical journeys along the way. Bessell often uses unusual instrumentation alongside his analogue and modular synths and here he uses the beautiful Aum guitar to stunning effect. Full of engaging atmospheric moods and distinctive melodies, the album contains a wealth of detail that repays repeated listenings.

The album also comes with downloadable links (via Bandcamp) to specially created 3D environments that can be viewed in virtual reality (or can be navigated around with a mouse if you don't have access to a VR headset). You can see an example here: https://tinyurl.com/wtka5b3

This new album showcases once again the simply unique voice of this talented electronic music composer.

Submerged (Eurorack Redux) - Absence by Time_Controlled_Organism

Published on Mar 28, 2020 Time_Controlled_Organism

"Eurorack minimalist version of the opening track from my latest e.p on bandcamp

https://timecontrolledorganism.bandca...

Sequenced by VCV Rack of course (using "virtual"cv/midi, sent to Mutant Brain for converting back to "true" CV) , you can hear some anti-oscillator, mangrove, RS serge VCFQ, doepfer SEM filter...

I also play with the VCV Console and 3 instances of Chronoblob , using a nanokontrol."

"On these tracks I wanted to focus on :

-melodies alternating from minor to major

-odd rythmic patterns but with a sense of repetition, vinyl drum samples.

As always the songs are sequenced using a quite complex arrangement of simple sequencers and switches, each track has some "generative" parts.

Since my last e.p I've learned to code a bit and developed my own VCV Rack modules under the name LifeFormModular, they are the main sequencers, switches, lfo's and oscillators at use here.
I also used Bidoo Sample Player and Vult filters.

My music and modules are free, but if you want to support me please consider donating a bit when you download a release on Bandcamp.

The Price Of Nothing & The Value Of Everything by Circuit3

New release from supporting member, Circuit3.

Available for on vinyl, CD, and download on BandCamp here.

"The album sounds great! Glad current artists are keeping the faith with quality songwriting" - Martyn Ware (The Human League, Heaven17)

"if the idea of a dystopian Howard Jones album fashioned from the roots of Synth Britannia appeals, then ‘The Price Of Nothing & The Value Of Everything’ is for you . . . this album is melodic vintage synth ear candy with a dose of gloom. 'I'm keeping the flame alive for those sounds and hopefully developing my songwriting along the way' – well, as far as CIRCUIT3 is concerned, he has achieved that!" - The Electricity Club

“the signature sounds, drum machine rhythms and lyrical stylings of that era are handled with exceptional care, with the fragile mystique of a track like ‘Face In The Crowd’ sounding like a newly-discovered tape of a Reset Records session left in a dusty corner of Vince Clarke’s Splendid studio space” - Mat Smith (Furtherdot.com)
