stribemidisamples

YouTube via soundwidgets — April 08, 2010 — "In this one I use the 8x16 matrix to trigger 2 instruments: the 309 gets MIDI 1-127 on 7 channels based on the cursor settings on the stribe. I also load samples on some of the tracks, so sometimes the 309 and a sample are triggered simultaneously by the sequencer. I control sample volume with the stribe. A bit chaotic at times but some happy accidents."

Stribe 1 Kit + shield + ableton live test

Stribe 1 Kit + shield + ableton live test from Mudo de Nacimiento on Vimeo.

"Testing my Stribe 1 kit with Ableton Live trought maxmsp.

Excuse about skills... stribes needs "a bit" pressure for detecting changes... is not a hardware issue, it is an "operator" (me) one!

xD

Feel free to comment!

Dorkbot Atlanta

via The Voice of Saturn:

"First, next Wednesday, April 8th, I will be presenting the Voice of Saturn stuff at the Dorkbot Atlanta meeting. I'll be joined by Scott from Curious Inventor who will be showing off some other projects of his, including the stribe1. Also presenting will be Beth Millikan, talking about Freeside Altanta, a non-profit hacker space they are trying to setup."

Stribe1 Monome Sampler Scrubber

YouTube via CuriousInventor
"Three Stribe1's and one monome control a granular synthesis-based sampler. Loop speed and pitch can be changed and the sounds can also be scrubbed or scratched. An arduino interfaces the Stribe1s and the software is written in max/msp."

stribe 0.2 - simple demo

YouTube via soundwidgets
"This is the new driver board (0.2) along w/ a new LED board that has sockets so I can change the colors of bar-graphs around for different apps. This is pretty random still barely exploiting what this can do - but I keep finding neat stuff by accident."
I thought I posted this one already, but apparently not. You can find prior posts featuring Stribe by clicking on the label below.

stribe + scalar

YouTube via soundwidgets
"Using the stribe with an app called 'scalar' by vlad spears. it is similar to 'balron' for the 40h. the stribes are divided into 8 sections, and so act sort of like a grid of buttons, sort of not. 'scalar' is written in Max/MSP v. 5 more info here: http://www.soundwidgets.com/smf/"

Hands-on, Interview: Stribe Multi-Touch Controller

Remember the Stribe? CDM has a great interview up with creator Josh Boughey. Click here to check it out.

Intro:
"Once the domain of the few, creating and customizing sophisticated DIY controllers is now more accessible than ever. That means, if you can’t find what you want, and you’re ambitious and knowledgeable enough, you go make your own. Josh Boughey was impressed by the Monome enough to buy one — but the Monome, a grid of on/off buttons, doesn’t provide any kind of variable control. So Josh built his own, combining a series of parallel touch strips with LED indicators. (The lights are the tricky part, requiring an obscene number of connections.)"

A Brief Conversation Resulting in One Less Child

YouTube via stretta
"This is an early prototype of Josh Boughey's stribe project. I'm attempting to write some software to turn the hardware into a musical instrument.

After a few nights of communicating with the firmware to light up LEDs in a meaningful manner, I switched gears and created a quick application that would hopefully result in a musical statement, albeit without the LED feedback I'm looking for. I'm still working on this.

If you're interested in what the stribe is, more information can be found here:
http://www.soundwidgets.com/stribe/

The software I'm using was created in Max, you can download the software at:

Stribe 0.4a w/ 0.4g Max patch + DSI monosynth

YouTube via soundwidgets
"A mini-demo of the very basic Max patch I wrote for the Stribe. It's essentially a 'virtual stribe' that sends display messages to the Stribe, and receives sensor data from the touchstrips and displays that in rslider controls. You can actually play with the virtual stribe without a real Stribe, but it's just not the same."

The Stribe

"The Stribe is an 8-channel multi-touch controller for music or video software.

1024 individually-addressable LEDs provide animated visual feedback."
