Voltergeist 5U Make Noise Maths MKII

via this auction

"This is the very rare Voltergeist Make Noise Maths MKII in 5U, will fit MU and Dotcom. Will also fit MOTM 5U height (its slightly wider that MOTM standard width.) If you want to use it in a MOTM system I can make you a custom MOTM to MU power lead.

These was a quite a long wait-time to get this, I think it's extremely rare, according to the website it says of the run of Maths MKII only 20 were produced. In fine condition as you can see in the photos."

Voltergeist 5U Dotcom Format Make Noise Maths MKII Shipping

via Vince Mecanikill on Facebook

"I am finishing building the last Maths module today and they will be shipping out to everyone tomorrow on Monday. Sorry for the delay on them but I am sure you will be happy with them! I decided to move a few of the pots to space them out a little better on the first run and the second run also as you can see in the picture. The pre order for the second run will be up this week on Voltergeist.org so anyone that missed out on the first round now is your chance to get one of these beast for your Dotcom system.

The panels are here and the boards are on their way. We are doing 5 of these to start with more at a later date. Please use the link at the bottom of this post for the module info with the patchbooks showing you all the insane shit you can do with this module. I do not have anything else in my system as versatile as this and it truly is a Swiss Army knife for your system with more features than you can imagine. Time to put some spicy chocolate in your MU and yes the knobs are big and have dots so there is plenty of ham room.
The Positronic Transient Gate is an extremely versatile, unique transient generator. Unlike traditional slew and envelope generators, the PTG's transients are derived purely from Vactrol behavior. Rather than using capacitor integrators, the PTG uses current control to exploit all the wonder that Vactrols have to offer. In fact, not a single capacitor exists in the signal path.

The layout is very open ended, providing the flexibility to perform a vast number of unique transient functions never before conceived until now. The PTG is a multifunctional beast that is sure to please!

Key Features and Functions:

Bipolar Vactrol Transient Generation
Vactrol VCAs
Envelope Follower
Signal Boosting/Overdrive/Distortion
Wide Range/Response
Over 40 Unique Documented Patches
Dual

Atomic Shadow: Metal Machine Monster

Metal Machine Monster from Atomic Shadow on Vimeo.

"This piece started out with a Halloween theme and slowly morphed in to a tribute to the late Lou Reed's groundbreaking album Metal Machine Music. The album was maligned by fans and critics when it was released, but has since come to be considered the foundation of drone music.

In the course of making this video my Moog Theremin packed up and stopped working just before recording. This required a reworking of the set up with the Kaoss 2 pad standing in for the MIA Theremin. There is a Dave Smith MEK just off camera providing a drone bass. Also featured are the EMW 200, Kaoss Quad, Eico signal generator and various effects pedals. The off camera modular system is providing the moaning sound courtesy of the Phonogene module from make Noise/Voltergeist.

The video was shot with an iPad that also decided to act up and I was unable to export the video to my Mac. I ended up shooting the screen of the iPad with another camera on a tripod, thus making the low quality, grainy film look even 'arty-er'."

Make Noise Phonogene in 5U Format

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Brand new never used Make Noise Phonogene in 5U MU DOTCOM Synthesizers.com format. Limited edition of 20 units and we had an extra one left so someone out there is going to be a happy camper...

The Phonogene is a digital re-visioning and elaboration of the tape recorder as musical instrument. It takes its name from a little known, one of a kind instrument used by composer Pierre Schaeffer. It is informed by the worlds of Musique Concrète where speed and direction variation were combined with creative tape splicing to pioneer new sounds, and Microsound where computers divide sound into pieces smaller then 1/10 of a second to be manipulated like sub-atomic particles..."

The Phonogene

The Phonogene from Atomic Shadow on Vimeo.

"This piece features the Make Noise Phonogene module in 5U format from Voltergeist. The Phonogene is a sampler module that allows you to process the sample in various ways under voltage control. All of the sounds (including clicks and pops) are generated from the short voice sample heard at the beginning. A DotCom S/H module is being used, with a triangle wave from a Q106, to generate control voltage to the vary-speed control of the Phonogene. No other modules were used to generate sounds. A tape echo pedal was used on the output of the STG mixer.

For those wishing to learn more there is a decent manual on the Make Noise site and Vince from Voltergeist made a very comprehensive demo video that is on EweTube."
