"The long-awaited Clutch module is a dual sample player built specifically for creating dynamic, expressive hi-hat sounds through an immediately playable interface.

With two layers of samples, Clutch lets you blend dependable “bread-and-butter” built in hits with a massive library of sample pairs hosted on a memory card. The controls for the card based samples are always accessible and intuitively arranged, making it easy to dial in sounds quickly during performance or patching. And yes, you can load your own samples!

In this video, Alex goes through the module from top to bottom, demoing all of the controls and features Clutch has to offer. With 'samples' said ... you can swap them and turn this into a percussive sample player for non hi hats too - which we do in the video. "Here's my (literal) first patch exploring the utterly wild wavefolding/shaper reanimator SKORPION from WMD. It takes a simple saw wave and creates a rich wide stereo sound that's reminiscent of chaining larger groups of modules with complex routings.

I'm working on a more fulsome demo video that's coming soon but I wanted to share this and show what I did for me 'right out of the box' as it were.

Skorpion is to be produced and released a little differently, it's open for pre-order directly with WMD now and they're going to produce one batch based on the pre order numbers and that's it. So grab one if you want one. You have until the 8th of October 2025 to pre order."

WMD Skorpion Sound Demos

"Skorpion is an 8-stage vector based wavefolder module that boasts a huge range of sounds via it's deep, yet intuitive set of controls. In this video, we cut about an hour of jamming and experimentation together into about 8 minutes of sound examples. No talking in this one, just pure sonic exploration and a demonstration of what this module can do with a simple input.

In the intro, we're running a sine wave through Skorpion and add some CV from an envelope into slope to create some rhythm. We add some drums to hear this in context with a drum beat. We then transition into a sine wave as the input signal, then some Saw (with windows) and Swarm Waveforms, experiment with a filter before the Skorpion, and end up back with some drums in different configurations.
