Novation Summit | Yamaha CP Reface - "Whisper Tempest"

video upload by eM

"It is a subtle night, with slight drizzles. The weather is warm, a calm before the storm, it's on its way, It's slow to let you know that it's on its way. You can hope that it goes away, you can cry, you can pray... but inevitably it will come, whispering through the night and waking you in the day. Be still it says... just wait, I'm just passing through, I don't come around often, I'd like to get to know you.

My usual favorite rudiment to play. The Novation Summit midi chained to the Yamaha CP Reface (hidden piano sound, gotta love it!). Enjoy!"

Top4 Songs Made in GDR ~ Karat Silly Lift ~ Vintage Synthesizer Recreation ~ RetroSound

Four of my favorite tracks 'Made in GDR', music from east germany

0:07 Karat - Der Blaue Planet (1982)
1:10 Silly - Mont Klamott (1983)
2:29 Lift - Nach Süden (1979)
3:05 Silly - Bataillon D`Amour (1986)

Featured the Moog Minimoog, Logan String Melody 2, Yamaha DX7 II

This cover song series contains my own recreations of my favourite songs from the last 50 years. The original music from which I take inspiration belong to their respective owners. I recreate tracks only for personal passion and to pay homage to these tracks.

My intention is not to create covers that sound exactly like the original (if you want to hear identical sounds, please listen the original). It's more of an inspiration with my sounds from the old synthesizers from the past and of course the great appreciation for the original performers and producers."

Yamaha CS-80 Bladerunner sound on a DX7

video upload by Benjamin Dehli

"The Yamaha CS-80 and Yamaha DX7 are probably polar opposites in both operation and sound. The CS-80 is an analog subtractive synthesizer, whereas the DX7 is a digital synthesizer that uses frequency modulation (FM) synthesis. The only thing they really have in common is the Yamaha brand name.

This experiment was an attempt to see if I could make the DX7 sound somewhat close to the iconic CS-80 sound famously used by Vangelis in the Blade Runner soundtrack.

The DX7 patch will soon be available for download at https://store.dehlimusikk.no/ as part of a DX7 bank/cartridge I'm currently working on."

Sunday jam with Tulip, Reface DX and Zoom MS-70CDR+

video upload by Floyd Steinberg

"'Here's an improvisation on Tulip, Reface DX and Zoom MS-70CDR+. As you perhaps know, Tulip is a Micropython based "home computer' with a focus on music and midi, used for drums&bass here. The new MS-70CDR+ is just like the old one, but with a bit more color. (Yep, you guessed it, due to organisational mishaps, the video I intended to publish today can't be published today ;-)

In the unlikely case you want to listen to this again, here's a Bandcamp link https://floydsteinberg.bandcamp.com

Tulip is here: https://tulip.computer/

Birthplace of Computer Music | CCRMA Labs Tour

video upload by Anthony Marinelli Music

"Anthony's musical touch as both composer and performer is connected with some of the most influential creative minds over the last 40 years. He’s composed and conducted original orchestral scores for over 80 feature films including _*Young Guns*_ , _*Internal Affairs*_ , _*The Man From Elysian Fields*_ , _*15 Minutes*_ and _*Planes, Trains & Automobiles*_ , been commissioned by the *Los Angeles Philharmonic* for his symphonic work "In the Family Way", written over one thousand TV commercials in a myriad of musical styles, co-founded Levels Audio Post (LA's premiere post production facility) and performed and arranged on big-box-office films and influential hit records such as *Michael Jackson's* _*Thriller*_ .

His extensive work as a young arranger, orchestrator and performer for *Quincy Jones* , *Jack Nitzsche* , *Lamont Dozier* , *Arthur Rubenstein* and *Giorgio Moroder* was vital in launching his own career. His early years pioneering modular analog synthesizers along with his wide-ranging music scholarship positioned Anthony at the center of the music technology revolution. He attended the University of Southern California School of Music as a piano and composition major.

Isobutane - Pixelizing Your Ears (2006)

video upload by Isobutane

"There were times when my only piece of equipment was the Yamaha RM1x. While going through some old floppy discs I’ve came across some really old tracks from around 2005-2007. I was surprised how playful and full of energy these are. Technically and soundwise they are all pretty funky but I was really stunned by the liveliness of these old projects. So I’m like…yeah let’s share em. Maybe some people will even remember some of these from the past live shows. Shees that was ages ago… Ok, let’s go. 7/7

This is called Pixelizing your ears and it was made in 2006.

"This is a great synth. Rated as fair due to some scratches - shown in photos - and a bend tape that drops a semitone when engaged - the rest of it is in working order. Has the hard top cover, and leg assembly with soft case. The case is old and the zipper is partially pulled, but still carries fine without it."

1st Seqtrak + Minilab Jam

video upload by Jeremy Parker

"In my quest for an even smaller, more portable DAWless setup, I picked up the Yamaha Seqtrak and Arturia Minilab 3 last week. With only a few days working with both pieces, I was pleased with what I was able to come up with. The Seqtrak by itself is usable, and the companion app is very handy, but pairing it with the Minilab 3 makes live performances a possibility I'd say. Part of putting this together was so I could travel and still make music, and potentially jam with other people, like at Knobcon coming up. I'm pretty encourages so far, and I think I'll get quicker with everything once I really learn the Seqtrak. Audio is directly off the Seqtrak, with mild brick wall limiter for YouTube... Enjoy!"

This one is called Fogfields and it was made in 2006. Back in the day, I used to play this one live a lot. The beat is an Aphex Twin ripoff...well kind of. The kick and zap sounds are taken directly from a track called Isoprophlex and are included within the RM1x sound bank. He mentioned Yamaha sampling these sounds for this machine in one of his interviews. Enjoy."
