some spooky late night music - Eurorack with Monome Kria & Ableton Wavetable

Published on Sep 4, 2018 junklight

"Still loving the old grids.

Kria is a nice sequencer - once you have a grid - Ansible is really good value - two decent sequencers and the Earthsea app as well.

The Ableton wavetable synth continues to be my new favourite wavetable based synth. It was pretty much bottom of my list of reasons to upgrade to 10 - 'why would I need that when I already have a ton of wavetables' but it's ace!"

"Koma Warnung" is probably the best warning till now...

In a live studio session exploring some of the possibilities the Koma Elektron Fieldkits have in term of sounddesign, CV manipulation and controlling electronic devices.

Getting to Know Planar 2 - Part 1

Published on Sep 4, 2018 Intellijel

"In this video we start to get to know Planar 2. We check out its controls, inputs and outputs in order to explore some of the possibilities of this versatile module.

With its smoothly responsive precision joystick, Planar 2 facilitates hands-on vector control of two entirely independent sets of outputs (quadrants A-D, and axis X/Y), plus the ability to capture and playback your gestures. Recording your joystick movements enables the creation of organic and complex envelopes, wild and wobbly LFOs, or extended sonic evolutions. It mixes, morphs, routes and pans audio inputs; triggers gates; outputs control voltages and is itself, CV-controllable. Planar2 puts the ‘joy’ back in ‘joystick,’ and the ‘fun’ back in ‘function generator.’ Its multitasking and tactile interface makes it a flexible and unique control device, no matter what your musical genre."

"Released in 1984, this 8-voice polyphonic synth has 2 analog DCOs and one sub-osc. Stackable in poly-8, poly4 or mono mode for a really big sound. Great for leads, bass, brass, drones, pads and strings, plus add on-board 'ensemble' (chorus) or 'brass' (ring mod) effects.

I've owned this unit since the mid-1990s, only smoke-free studio use. It is built like a tank- this one is fully functioning, have had zero issues with it. Keys, buttons, knobs, sliders all in perfect working order, MIDI works. The wood-grain sides are in good shape with only a few minor dings/scratches, and the metal casing has only a few minor scratches on the edges, one dent near the rear power supply."
