KOMA Elektronik Sensei Eurorack Sensor Module

video uploads by KOMA Elektronik

The Sensei Eurorack Sensor Module complements the Koma Elektronik Field Kit Sensor Pack from six years ago:

Making Music With Sensors | Koma Elektronik Field Kit Sensor Pack

video upload by HAINBACH

"I was doubtful whether sensors would be fun tools to create music with - beta-testing the Koma Elektronik Field Kit sensors taught me otherwise. They are ideal creative tools in that they make you think differently and far out of the box. Perfect for breaking writer's block or pure musical enjoyment."

Press release for the new Sensei module follows:

"Berlin-based synth makers KOMA Elektronik introduce Sensei, a new Eurorack module designed to connect your modular system with the world around you. Whether it's light, movement, heat, or touch, Sensei lets you patch your environment.

"Originally based on the Sensor Interface from the KOMA Field Kit, Sensei is a standalone Eurorack module built for artists, experimental musicians, and installation creators who want to go „beyond the knob“.

Two sensor inputs (one for continuous signals, one for triggers and switches) allow for expressive, non-traditional control over CV and gate signals.

From subtle environmental fluctuations like heat or wind to pulsing club energy fired by strobe lights, Sensei makes your surroundings part of the music.

Users can choose from KOMA's established lineup of Field Kit Sensors currently available:

- Light
- Temperature
- Sound
- Touch
- Movement (Accelerometer)
- A Micro Sequencer with three modes
- Softpotentiometer
- Ball Switch
- Button / Jack Input
or plug in their own Arduino / DIY sensors with standard three-pin connectors.

And even without sensors, Sensei offers creative functionality: it doubles as a re-triggerable saw/triangle envelope, voltage processor with gain and offset, or a simple CV source.

Key features:

2 sensor channels: one continuous, one switch/gate style
Built-in analog processing (offset & gain)
Re-triggerable envelope mode (saw & inverse saw, gate & inverse gate)
Works with KOMA and standard 3-pin sensors
Perfect for installations, generative patches & sound experiments

With Sensei, modular becomes tactile, responsive, and alive. Your modular just grew a few more senses!

KOMA is currently running an introductory sale on their Sensors that you should grab if you are interested!

MSRP: €169,-

Available now through KOMA Elektronik and selected dealers."

FM Radius by Koma Elektronik

quick demo/review video upload by Meska (Meska)

"Quick demo/review of the FM Radius by koma elektronik
RTFM: https://koma-elektronik.com/new/wp-co..."

"The FM RADIUS is a CV-tunable radio receiver capable of receiving radio broadcasts on the FM bands. It provides the user the ability to catch radio transmissions for further manipulation.

The CV Radio is capable of catching the strongest broadcasts without any external antennas but for better reception, an external antenna should be used.

Use it as a crazy oscillator, infinite sample generator or just listen to the news during your office break."

Ambient w/ norns shield, Field Kit, piezo | Artificial Sea 2025-05-18

video upload by atnr

"A piece created with Norns Shield, modular synth, piezo elements, and a ‪@KOMAelektronik‬ Field Kit. Long electronic tones mingle with ocean-like sounds and fragmented radio voices.

Norns Shield: Runs sines ( https://norns.community/sines ) to generate a drone.

Marble & can piezo: A piezo pickup is attached to the underside of a tin can filled with marbles, routed into the ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ MOOD MK II for reverb and micro-looping.

Noise box: Fed through ‪@strymon‬ NIGHTSKY for filtering and reverb.

Field Kit: Mixes an FM-radio feed with noise from Mutable Instruments Braids, then sends the blend into Clouds for granular processing."

New KOMA Sensei, Kassiopeia & More Superbooth!

Via KOMA

"Dear synthusiasts,

long time no hear!

First of all, big THANKS to everyone who made it to our KOMAPARTY 2.0 some weeks ago! We had great fun and were happy to hang out with friends and our community <3

Big ups Bertolt Meyer, Teslator, Cate Hops with FridaY and Echosisters!

Here's a few snaps for the vibes:

KOMA BOOTH AT SUPERBOOTH

What's all this??? We're excited to share what we've been working on during the Superbooth preparations, including a few mysterious surprises! You will find us at Booth O400 - same as last year. Just walk up the main big stairs and turn left until you see a bunch of nerds in black dungarees playing weird looking instruments… Probably our best SB drip yet!

This year, we will showcase a handful of brand new designs of upcoming modules to be released later this year including Monoplex - a smaller version of the Komplex sequencer, Bürste - a noise burst generator, a Wavefolder, a Dual Envelope and a KOMA VCO!
Sensei and Kassiopeia, which are both available for pre-order, will also have their space in special installations we’ve prepared especially for this year.

One of them is using your movements or even your heartbeat to generate cool shapes with our new VCO and Sensei sensor modules. You'll be
able to print out the results as a sticker!

Introducing Lore - FM oscillator pair by Crows Electromusic

Press release via Crows Electromusic:

March 26, 2025 - Crows Electromusic, a small synth company from Vancouver, Canada, is thrilled to introduce Lore, a standalone all-analog tool for exploratory sound synthesis, ambient, drone, and noise music. With individual controls for each function, Lore gives direct control of two independent triangle-core oscillators and can be switched to an FM synthesis mode to unlock a wide range of complex tones. The instrument’s unique un-quantized interface is perfect for exploring pure tones, drones, and FM sound textures.

Features:

• 100% analog circuitry
• Two triangle-core oscillators
• Crossfade between triangle and square waves
• One-control-per-function interface
• Fully standalone, just add headphones
• Transparent bioplastic enclosure
• USB powered
• Handmade in Canada

Lore is our second release, building on what we’ve learned making our first product OVUM analog sound explorer. We had two goals in mind during development: first we wanted to make something that could create a harsher and more aggressive sound, and second, we wanted to see how small a synth we could make. On both fronts we think Lore is a success - it measures under 3 x 3 inches, and the FM mode gives you access to a whole range of shimmering, grinding, and metallic sounds. Just like with OVUM, we prioritized immediate control and ease of exploration. No understanding of oscillators, wave shapes, or FM synthesis is required to pick it up and start creating interesting and inspiring sound. We think people of all ages, musical abilities, and experience levels are going to love this instrument.

Lore is available now for $79 CAD / $59 USD.

Crows Electromusic is a small synth company based in Vancouver, Canada. Started by Cory Alder in 2022. Crows’ goal is to develop new hardware instruments that challenge the established ways we interact with sound and music creation. Their first product, OVUM was released in 2023, and their second product Lore is available now.

For more information, please visit Crows’ website at https://crowselectromusic.com or follow us on social media (Instagram, Bluesky) at @crowselectromusic.

"Like-Minded" Koma Elektronik Chromaplane with Biofeedback

video upload by Stephano Gavilanes

"First exploration with the Koma Elektronik Chromaplane analog synthesizer, and brainwaves via the SoundMachines BI1👌🏽

Beta waves are sending control voltages into the Chromaplane filter, and Apha waves modulating the delay time. I also made a finger ring to hold a magnet while performing with the pickups, it helps generate a subtle kick sound when tapped with a pickup💡

The Chromaplane is an inspiring masterpiece! 🖤

A Very Unusual Analog Synthesizer

video upload by HAINBACH

"The Chromaplane by Duo Passepartout and Koma Elektronik is an oddity: it is an experimental analog synth that does not have a keyboard or MIDI, but instead it is played with telephone coil pickups. A beautifully unique idea thatl found success on Kickstarter, funding within minutes. I got to play with the pre-series model for a week."
