"Continuing the DIY Modular Synth build, adding a Speak & Spell. It still isn't doing everything that I want it to do, but this patch was kind of interesting."

Sonicware Liven XFM Prototype - Demo 6 - Morphing Soundscape

video by ChrisLody

"I'm back with another XFM solo demo, this time I've gone for something a bit more relaxed, an ambient soundscape that uses the morphing capabilities of the XFM.

The aim was to create a cinematic sounding ambient jam here, so there's lots of big chords flying around and a lot of modulation to get things moving.

Track one uses the X-LFO engine with a random LFO setting to morph rapidly between two pad sounds. Track 2 uses the X-FORM engine which morphs between two sounds over time. The pitch lock function is turned off here which gives that ring-mod like sweeping sound. Track 3 uses the Library engine which plays back the presets are they are stored but allows you to tweak the overall feedback level and attack setting. This sound uses a 'feedback web' as I started calling it when I was designing it which means all operators are fed into each other which can create some wild sounds. Track 4 is also set to Library but every step has movements of the preset sounds saved into it and the track is set to only trigger it's notes 25% of the time which gets lots of bleepy randomness. Plenty of the different types of filter are used to control the sounds over time and shape them together into a whole."

Novation Peak - A pad with a whole lot of movement!

video by Lost Clouds

"I received a Keystep as a Christmas gift and it has been a blast using it with the Peak - something about only having 25 keys forces you to be a bit more creative with the patches you make.

This patch is all about movement - the use of pitch and cutoff modulation with LFO1, pitch glide from envelope 2, oscillator filter modulation modulation with LFO4 and chorus level modulation with LFO3, combined with the onboard reverb and delay gives a patch that's a little bit different every time you press the keys. Opening up the filter gives an even more expressive sound, especially if you time it right with the pitch glide!"

Yamaha Tenori-on live perc demo, layer 16 (Solo mode)

video by SynthAddict

"Samples come from TR-808/TR-909 drum machines. You can’t do this level of sequencing/performance on those classic drum machines.

Watch how the Tenori-on can do evolving drum patterns and more (more demos coming soon). As Nick Trikakis showed in his amazing Akai Force performance vids, the Tenori-on can be an evolving, expressive instrument after plenty of practice. Yes, I need to practice more. :-)

This video has no edits to show how it can be tweaked live to change as needed. No prerecorded/sequenced bits in this clip, but when you do mix live and sequenced bits (as well as MIDI links) the box is even more magical.

The clip is less than 10 min, but may be too long for some, so jump around as needed. Thanks."

Qu-bit Surface: Tutorial and Sound Demo

video by Patchwerks Seattle

"In this video Matthew Piecora (aka EZBOT) of Patchwerks takes us on a guided tour of the QU-Bit Surface Physical Modeling Synthesizer Voice. Video includes a tutorial and sound demonstration.

Surface is a multi-timbral physical modeling voice capable of emulating the sonic qualities of acoustic instruments or morphing into otherworldly synthetic textures. Physical models contain plucked strings, prepared piano, and an assortment of melodic percussion, with up to 8 voices of polyphony. Creating a sense of space is easy with the true stereo outputs and configurable spatialization modes.

Hi Everyone,

I am currently in the midst of a big house move so have not been able to make any new music for a while. Do not despair however, I will soon be up and running in the new place... so stay tuned for more music in a not too far away future.

In the meantime, please enjoy another MicroFreak session which i recorded more or less back to back with the previous video. I kind of like the theme on this one so might use it for a future song for my upcoming album.

Take care everyone, play the music you love and stay safe!! See you soon!

Peace // BURG
