John McCreary's Minimoog Repair (by Synthpro)

Published on Nov 8, 2016 synthpro

"Hello Everyone,

This is a video I made of John McCreary's minimoog repair.
This minimoog is from 1978 SN 9781.

You also get a look at my new home studio in this particular video, still have my shop but at the end of every restoration or repair, the synths come to my home base for a good audio and function test.

Thanks again John for giving me the opportunity to work on your synth, really appreciate it!

Thanks for watching and if you have a sick minimoog or other synth you would like to have the synthpro treatments done to, feel free to message me at: synth_pro@yahoo.com (Note: that is an underscore in my address).

Thanks and take care,
Jareth"

Mike Szot's Memorymoog restoration part 1 (by Synthpro)

Published on Oct 27, 2016 synthpro

"This is a video I made for Mike Szot of his Memorymoog restoration progress, this is SN 1249 making it the 249th Memorymoog built. On this unit I installed a factory Autotune Upgrade, this upgrade is a lot of work in itself because changes have to be made on the DMUX, Computer, and Common Analog boards but the results are a much more stable unit."

Update: SN 249

Herb Deutsch's Moog SOB (by Synthpro)

synthpro

"Hey Guys,

Here is a little different video for all of you going over Herb's Moog SOB (better known as the Opus 3) and the history of this particular instrument released by moog back in the 80s.

Herb was involved in the design of the Opus 3 and I am very honored to have the opportunity to work on his actual instrument.

(Note: when showing the Chorus schematics I did forget to address that the 2 LFOs are modulating at 20Hz and a 2Hz signal...this is also how you get slow/fast rate based off which LFO is selected. These LFOs are actually modulating the clocking oscillator running at roughly 300kHz to clock the SAD512s....this is that circuit behind where I talk about the sine wave conversion)

Thanks again Herb and to all of you who watch my videos.

Sincerely,
Jareth"

"This is the second/final part of the series on Herb's SOB (Opus 3).

This this video, I go over more in depth of the chorus after repairs and a good overview of the features of this instrument to show its 100% working.

Thanks again Herb and to all of you who watch, I greatly appreciate the support.

Moog Opus 3 rebuild (by Synthpro)

Published on Apr 29, 2016 synthpro

"This is a sick little Opus 3 that came into my shop, had a articulation issue for mode 2 which I found to be a bad 4007 and suffers from two bad divider IC's.

I take you on a trip of theory of operation and what makes it different from other moog models."

Behringer Model D Demo/Comparison (by Synthpro)

synthpro
Published on Aug 2, 2017

"Hello Everyone,

This is a demo of the Behringer model D. I am a beta tester for this unit and I go over some of my first impressions as far as build quality, features, tone quality, and even a direct comparison to a real vintage minimoog model D from 1972, (The Real Test). Note: this vintage minimoog has the rev 2 oscillators, (not the oscillator using the thermally regulated voltage to exponential current converter UA726) and all other boards are original as well.

This Behringer Model D has left a great first impression with myself but I leave you guys to be the judge.

There will be another video covering the noise source as well as the EG controlling the pitch, forgot to cover that in this video.

I want to send a very special thank you to Uli Behringer for the opportunity to test and demo this unit.

P.S
For the Moog Fans:
I have to be completely honest, this was one of the toughest videos I have made because of the fact Im a huge moog enthusiast, (as you can see from so many of my other videos) but I also have say that the new moog music has made a critical mistake in business, they brought back something without owning all the rights. I hate it for moog but at the same time I wish all the best to them and hope this experience kick starts them back into engineering shape, ( I would love to see something new from moog). I have never heard of a company moving forward by going backwards and I leave it at that.

Thanks for watching!

Sincerely,
Jareth"

Polymoog 203a and vintage Moog 12 Stage Phaser (by Synthpro

Published on Jan 4, 2016 synthpro

"Hi everyone,

This is just a video I put together to show how the vintage moog phaser sounds with a polymoog. This is a Phaser I bought as a none working unit and just recently repaired, still needs some preventive maintenance done to it as well as a calibration but could not resist playing around with it and figured I would share.

There will be a much more detailed demo of the phaser itself soon .

All the best and thanks for watching and the support!

video upload by synthpro

"Hey Guys, In this video, I go over a very cool little Oberheim OB-1 I have been working on between all my other projects. As you can see in this video, its a great playing little synth once more after being dead for many years.

This particular synth belongs to David Ewing who played with Brenda Lee for 30+ years so this synth also has some awesome history behind it.

Here is a link to Tauntek's page on the OB-1 for those interested or struggling with your own repairs: http://www.tauntek.com/OB1.htm

Programming Prophet 5 Patch Into Memorymoog (by synthpro)

video upload by synthpro

"Hey Guys,
This is a video going over a Prophet 5 patch I have programmed into the memorymoog. This is a example of preset 3-6: Release-Repeat found in the Prophet 5.

NOTE: you may have to tweak the modulation amount and speed to get the results you are after, this can vary on Memorymoogs just a bit.

Thanks for watching!

Sincerely,
Jareth"

Polymoog 203a with Vox Humana Program testing (by Synthpro)

Published on Feb 21, 2015 synthpro

"Hello Everyone,

This was a fast video I made showing off the programming changes I made to a 203a, I went by the 280a schematics plus some tweaking of my own to make this 203a blast Vox Humana. I replaced Preset 7 Vibes to be VH and I am very happy with the results. Still have some fine tuning to do before I am 100% satisfied but am extremely close to having it right on.

I was comparing directly between my 280a, (keyboard model/Vox Humana) and a 203a, (synthesizer model)

Thanks for watching and as always I great appreacite all the support, you guys are the reason I make these videos.

Take care,
Jareth"
