"A few weeks ago Pawel of Arcane Devices contacted me about possibly testing out this versatile 1U sequencer. I don't have a 1U row but fortunately they have a custom enclosure made just for it! Mind you that this video is me trying out the module for the very first time, without having read the manual and without updating the firmware to a current state. I like how easy it is to program something musical with it and the 'loop' feature that lets you loop any length of steps is just awesome for on the fly polymeter vibes."

"The second V/oct input on CYCLE 5 is interesting to use for transposing the pitch of the VCO. When using the precise 1V outputs of ROUTE 4 (with the help of C2) you can create arp jumps across a few octaves. Let's figure out how I did it."

"This idea was stuck in my head for at least a year before I finally decided to just ask Joran (‪@joranalogue‬ ) what he thought of the concept of building a vocoder using his modules.

The result is a crude 'proof-of-concept' 5 band vocoder that sounds a bit crap, especially on live vocals, but nonetheless it was a fun learning experience. I would like to repeat this educational endeavour for other ridiculous builds.

I realised afterwards that I should have documented the build process a bit more, explaining why certain choices were made. Maybe I can figure out how to logistically approach that for a next build. Looking forward to that.

Boundary Layer is a triple cycling slew acting as a powerhouse of modulation, audio
mayhem, and obscure modular tricks. Each of the channels can act individually as:
-a modulation oscillator
-voltage controlled slew (including portamento)
-AR/AD envelope (decay or release determined by choice of input).

All three channels are tied together by three global inputs, as well as three outputs which select the MAX, MID, and MIN of all three voltages. Using different combinations at audio rate allows for patch programmable stereo drone synth capabilities.

"Someone lent me this module from their personal collection to explore and demonstrate. I honestly didn't expect it to sound this good. In this clip I ran a square wave sequence from the minibrute (no internal filter or vca used) straight into the input of the TB-EFA. The trigger out of the minibrute was connected to the trigger input in the TB-EFA. I added a stepped random wave to trigger the accents.

It's really really good."

"In this clip I experimented with sending envelopes and audio rate modulation to the CV inputs on the Fonitronik PS3100 Triple Resonator. GENERATE 3 is used as an audio source and it's set up (with the help of a second VCO) to produce a sync tone."

"I used Griffin's Claws to patch the output of the Fonitronik PS3100 back into itself - the result isn't drastic but rather there's a subtle added resonance because of the feedback.

Edited in early 90s fashion for my pleasure."

"This is a really nice sounding little module. It's a LPG with resonance control, ping input and CV input. It reacts dynamically to incoming pings. The resonance can add a nice distortion to the sound. In this video I just run a few VCOs through it, but you can use MUZZLE standalone as a source for percussion, lasersweeps or bongo kicks."

BRINGS / does it hold up to ELEMENTS / BRAIDS into RINGS / amazing depth

"I'm still figuring out whether ELEMENTS is something I should gas for or nah. I have an ELEMENTS on loan, so I can compare.

I like this combo a lot but it's not as straightforward as ELEMENTS which has a tremendous amount of controls as well as 3 exciters at the same time, ... .

Soundwise I think they are definitely in the same ballpark. I also think they are dissimilar enough to justify having both (if you really like to explore these types of sounds).

In any case: if you have a RINGS and a BRAIDS/PLAITS you should try this experiment."
