Interstate 210 (Foothill Freeway): Pasadena to Newhall

video upload by CatSynth TV

"We travel California Interest 210 west and north from Pasadena to its western terminus with I-5 just south of Newhall (Santa Clarita). We start on the California 710 stub freeway (the northernmost end of the unconstructed I-710 through Alhambra and Pasadena), which feeds in into I-210 west through Pasadena, the town of La Canada Flintridge, and the northernmost sections of Los Angeles terminating at I-5 just before it's junction with California Highway 14. This scenic route passes through the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, and we also pass California Highway 2 and Highway 118 along the way.

Pinging the VCF - 90 Second Patch Tips

video upload by Morphor

"The Morphor VCF is pingable! Sending short triggers or gates to the input and setting up the cut-off frequency and resonance just right can create some really awesome oscillations. Because our VCF is mutli-mode, you can layer the the Low Pass and High Pass outputs for interesting interactions. Adding modulations to the cut-off via it's CV input can enhance the sound even more. Happy Morphing!

00:08 Short triggers
00:09 Adjust the resonance for sustain
00:16 Add a short envelope to reduce trigger lengths
00:22 Add the High Pass output for more interactions
00:37 Add modulation to the cut-off CV input
00:57 Add another envelope with VCA for more control of the modulation
01:17 Reduce the LFO level for more subtle modulation
01:27 Happy Morphing!"

Morphor Plectrum: Demo and tutorial of analog Karplus-Strong module

video upload by CatSynth TV

"We explore the Plectrum module from Belgium-based Morphor, and demonstrate all of its features. The Plectrum is an all-analog implementation of the Karplus-Strong algorithm for plucked string sounds. It uses a BBD 'bucket bridge' delay, and a one-pole low-pass filter to create the algorithm's all-important feedback loop. In this demo, we introduce the algorithm and show how the different knobs and CV sources affect aspects of the sound. We also try out the advanced 'loop extender' feature that allows us to add other modules into the feedback loop of the Karplus-Strong system.

NAMM 2024 - Morphor - Plectrum

video upload by sonicstate

"Sonic State caught up with Eli from Morphor Radical Acoustics at NAMM 2024 to delve into their intriguing range of Bucket Brigade Delay (BBD) modules. Eli introduces the Plectrum, Morphor's second version of the AP1, highlighting its fully analog design using a 124-stage Bucket Brigade Delay chip. The new version features CV-controlled feedback, allowing users to manipulate the length of the notes even up to self-oscillation, providing a wide range of sounds from subtle to extreme.

Continuing to use BBD modules, Morphor have created an Ensemble with eight-voices in stereo that serve as a powerful chorus on steroids. Eli also unveils three new essential modules, including a VCO, a VCA with an inverted ADSR envelope, and a versatile LFO all available soon.

Plectrum Price: 200 USD
Ensemble Price: 350 USD

Morphor Distortion - LED Based Walkthrough

video upload by Morphor

"Join Eli as he walks you through the features and sounds of the Morphor Distortion module.

Chapters:
0:00 Introduction and unboxing
0:47 Basics
3:55 Bass notes
5:18 Gain modulation

The Morphor Distortion - LED Based is a compact and characterful analog distortion module. Loosely based on the legendary MXR distortion circuit this module is perfect for adding some extra crunch to your patches.

With CV-controlled gain setting, three distortion modes and a dry/wet mixing control, this module gives you lots of options to spice up your sound without taking up too much space. Internally the clipping is performed by LEDs which are also shown in the front of the module, so you can see your sound getting destroyed with your own eyes."

Superbooth 2023: Morphor - Ensemble

video upload by sonicstate

"We spoke to Eli from Morphor at Superbooth 2023 about their new chorus module, Ensemble. The module has eight fully analog delay lines and offers standard chorus settings with slow and fast LFOs, spread controls and the ability to select voices. Morphor is proud of the module's eight BBD lines and have placed the BBDs on the back for easy viewing.

The inspiration for the module came from the Ensemble effect in software, which was not available in modular form, leading to Morphor's research into choruses and the creation of an eight-voice chorus.

Ensemble Available: June 2023. Price around 399 Euros"

Morphor Ensemble - Analogue 8 Voice BBD Chorus

video upload by Morphor

"A small preview of our new module, the Ensemble - Analogue 8 Voice BBD Chorus. More to come!
https://morphor.io/product/ensemble-a..."

"The Morphor Ensemble is an 8-voice fully analog chorus effect module. The module can truly upgrade any input audio into a sound with body. Transform your creations into warm and full sounds as if a whole orchestra is playing them.

Morphor Ensemble features extensive control over your effect with number of voices selection, CV-able spread, two full-featured LFOs and control over the amount of dry-add signal. This way it is possible to create a wide range of effects, from subtle broadening or humanisation of your sound up to pitch-bending craziness.

The module features a true analog audio path based on eight BBD devices, known for their authentic and warm timbre. In summary, the Morphor Ensemble is a high-end, flexible chorus module for every analog lover."

Morphor AP-1 - Analogue String Synthesis Eurorack Module

video uploads by Morphor

via the Morphor AP-1 Kickstarter

The Morphor AP-1 module is a fully analogue Eurorack module that can produce plucked string sounds. Based on the Karplus-Strong principle, this module is a compact all-in-one solution for generating amazing bass, acoustic guitar and percussion sounds. By using high quality analogue components we made a module with a rich sound. Being only 10HP in width, you won't need a lot of space to get going and start creating some incredible music. Background

I am Thijs, based in Belgium, dipping my toes into developing modules for the first time. After recently graduating as an electronics engineer, I'm currently looking for ways to use my skills and passions to create new things that people love. Thanks to Eli and Matthew from ENT Studios, music lovers who have been just as passionate about this project, this dream is coming to reality. They have over 15 years of experience as electronics engineers and have been supporting me with technical advice, frontplate design and more.

The idea for the Morphor AP-1 module came from personal experience and interests. Being extremely passionate about music, playing bass myself and having some experience with string synthesis in software, the idea to bring this concept to Eurorack in a completely analogue way was obvious from the start. After months of tinkering away I am confident enough in my working prototype to share this exciting project with the world.

The Morphor AP-1 module can produce plucked string sounds with a wide variety of sounds. The module has the following controls:

GATE: to pluck the string, simply insert a 5V pulse into the input. Short triggers work great but you can play around with longer pulses to get rougher sounds.
TUNE: change the frequency of the string with a 1V/oct input. Afterwards you can generate vibrato and other effects with a separate CV pitch input.
COLOUR: you can alter the timbre of the string with this control, including a CV input. This way you can get very noisy or dampened sounds.
FILTER BYPASS: the colour parameter is shaped by an internal filter but can be bypassed if you like. Use your own external filter to generate unique sounds. A one pole low pass filter will give the best results but feel free to get creative with this feature. You can insert anything you like into the loop.
FEEDBACK: by adjusting the feedback amount it's possible to change the decay of the sound. Create short plucked sounds or long ringing strings. In some configurations, you might even get some nice oscillations.
OUTPUT: take the output to the rest of your modular system and start experimenting!
Other information:

Frequency range: sub audio range to roughly 400 Hz
Dimensions: 10HP width, 3U Eurorack standard
3.5mm patch cables for all jacks
16-pin power socket
