Creating a grunge lofi jam with Semimodular banana synths.

The DK is sending CV to the blue inputs of the Peterlin which gets the squelching output of the Peterlin to follow the envelopes of the DK.

The DK is sending clock to the PO33 to get the beats in time. I’m able to use the DK as master by sending the clock to the PO33 and the and CV to the Peterlin.

The QI is being used for a simple delay and Chorus on the Dk."

"A special version of the Urano VCF53 were made for LD Zero, which takes advantage of the Zero's more advanced switching system.
On the Zero version both filters can be separately set to LPF, BPF and all pass modes.

DK shift registers are providing the bed sequence. The range of notes in the sequences are created using the Slew circuits acting on pitch. The DAC outputs are patched into the Slew circuits. The Swarm provides a nice detuned pad using the Freeze function. The Gene GX has been tuned into the Dk and the Swarm. I’ve dialled down the modulation a little but i’ve kept the lofi grit because I’m addicted to it.

I love playing the Gene GX and I can never get enough of the DK. They both have such unique sounds.

Urano VCF53

"Showing off the new Urano VCF53 a bit :)
In this video, both filter slots are populated with VCF53, so it gets four channels of single VCF53 analog filters. VCF53 is a further engineered VCF51, made with discrete parts only."

Analog Drums On Zaturn Zero

"By setting the VCF8 analog filters in high resonance mode, turning down the input level, and modulating the filter cutoff with envelopes and oscillators, it is possible to create analog drum sounds almost in the same way as SpazeDrum is creating its analog drum sounds.

In this video I create a kick drum sound a snare drum sound and a hi hat sound."

Self Playing Patches by BENGE

"This series of studies explores an idea that Benge has been working on over the past year or so, namely that of Cybersynthesis. This involves programming self-contained patches on various modular systems which, once set in motion, will produce dynamic, evolving soundscapes, sometimes purely abstract in nature, at other times veering towards the more melodious

Many different methods were deployed in the patches, depending on the system being used, but normally multiple sequencer and switching devices were combined to give varying degrees of control over long time periods, often without repetition

Other things like random control signals and semi-random events were combined with the sequencers and switching units to bring variation to the performances the machines were making

The key idea at the heart of Cybernetics is the concept of bringing control to chaotic processes. To do this, some kind of feedback loop would ideally be established that can monitor and limit events that might otherwise spin out of control. The Serge and Modcan systems featured here each have various comparator circuits that can, to a certain extent, achieve this highly advanced synthesis feature

In the absence of such sensor paths, it is sometimes possible to use audio or voltage mixers and feedback chains to set various parameters to be on the very edge of chaotic behaviour, an approach used in many of the patches on display here

Other techniques such as the quantisation of voltages and the forcing of notes to play within certain predetermined musical scales were also employed in some of the pieces, which is another way of taming chaotic elements into into a more musical realm

Overall, a wholly experimental approach was applied to the various setups, with the intention of providing an insight into how these machines can behave. Of course, each system has an almost limitless depth to the complexity of patches available, and each track on the album provides just a single snapshot of each instrument used. But hopefully it provides an interesting glimpse into the wonders that these self-playing systems can achieve

When I discontinued Urano for the first time, I was stupid and selling my own Urano. Last weekend I managed to finish a new Urano for myself :)
After playing with it for a week, I realized how much I love its dual filter with drive, and I decided to try to engineer this design a bit further.

This test design has lot of character and LPF, BPF and allpass modes.
