Ladyada on Wired News

Looks like Ladyada of x0xb0x fame made Wired News. Title link takes you to the article. Make sure to also check out her other gadgets.

Gil Mellé

Title link takes you to a post on Gil Mellé on Music Thing.

The orange device to the left is the Bubble Osscilator and the Luminot.

The device below is the Sound Gun.

Unfortunately there isn't much info on these devices on Gil Mellé's site.

Roland JL1?

Anyone know what this is? Title link takes you to more shots on Failed Muso.

Consensus is this is a DIY project in a Roland CSQ-100 box.

Using the Korg Kaoss as a Synth

Shepitology has a post up on how he used his Korg Kaoss KP2 as a synth. Apparently you cannot play the synth part directly via a standard MIDI keyboard. He had to use Fruity Loops as the interface between his MIDI keyboard and the KP2. The post covers how he did this and includes a link to a track with the KP2 used for the lead. Title link takes you there.

Moog55 - New Flickr Set

flickr by moog55. Title link takes you to the set including Roland Jupiter 8, Oberheim TVS, Moog System 55 and more. There's also a private picture of Bob Moog.

To the left is a custom Roland SH-101. You can mouse over the mods for more detail after the hop.

Update via the comments: "that custom 101 is a Philip Pilgrim "NovaMod 2.0" 101, complete with the sticker set. The docs for this mod set are still floating around the net, and many "circuitbending" folks have ripped it off and called it their own idea."

More info on the Novamod: link

Mods pulled from the post:
-VCF FM: Amazing new sounds are now added through this feature. Six FM sources are available.
-LFO Clock Input: Syncing the Arpeggiator and LFO to external drum modules and sequencers is now possible. As well, interesting feedback loops can be created.
-PW Modulation Source Selection: Now you can choose a pulse width source. it is independent from the LFO's waveform setting. OSC sources are included.
-Pulse width to near 0%: Pulse width effects are now made more extreme and powerful.
-External Audio Input: The ability to do FM of the VCF by an external audio source or to simply route a signal into the audio path is now provided. Don't forget -feedback loops!
-VCF CV Input: Just plug in a foot pedal or a CV from a midi converter and your SH-101 will sing!
-LFO Rate Scalar: Ever hear a bell sound out of a 101? Try this on Hi!! Want a really slow sweep...you got it too!
-1/4" CV/Gate In/Out Jacks

VICMOD

Via Ross Healy:

"Here are the Melbourne Australia Modular Synth Builders, called VICMOD...We plan to each build a full modular synth using Ken Stones boards. Only 2 of us knew how to solder before this day. In the photos we are building up a Bandpass Filter...I must say how great it feels to make a synth from parts."

A DIY gathering where you get to build something. Now that's a great idea. Title link takes you there.

A Lollipop for Papa

7 inch by Dr. Peter Zinovieff, founder of EMS. Shot and details pulled from this auction.

"Rare 7 inch one-sided long-play 33 rpm disc (originally supplied with Computer Products Magazine in the early 1970s) featuring an extended electronic/Moogy piece by electronics innovator (and founder of Electronic Music Studios [London] Ltd) Dr Peter Zinovieff titled Lollipop For Papa. The record is in excellent condition (surface mark but plays okay)."
