RedSound DarkStar

images at this auction
I had this one set to go up on MATRIXSYNTH-B, but figured the VOCODER faceplate and details warranted a post here instead.

"It is a VOCODER TOO! This Darkstar is the version that allows the main chip to be swapped out and the unit turned into a massively featured vocoder! Here is the best part I am including the IMPOSSIBLE to find Vocoda Overlay and Factory Program Voice Listing Sheet.

Check out ebay seller ta256 item # 190265809783 for a chip. Note the newer and more prevalent XP2 does not have this chip swap feature making this the one to own!"

KORG PE-2000

via this auction

"Sometimes named the Poly Ensemble or K-5 or even Poly Synthesizer (named so on the front page of the service manual). These synths were built from 1976 to 1979/80... very early model, this may be of little interest to a musician, but any collectors or synth historians will notice the naming used on presets 1 & 2 (‘Reed Wind #1 & #2’ rather than ‘Organ #1 & #2’ and the older style knobs (ie not MS-20 style knobs found on the later ones)...

"I used my modular (doepfer, livewire) for the bass sounds and for some simple processing."

Beep-it

"Beep-it is an optical theremin synthesizer. It outputs a square wave signal whose pitch is modified by the amount of light detected. The sound resembles that of early 8-bit video games."

follow-up to this video post.

How the DVZ process works.

"DVZ® provides the identical real-time chord divisions used by live musicians ending 25 years of organ sounding samples."

"Produced in 1973 at Synapse Video in Syracuse, NY. Material was shot on 16mm film, then transferred to video and electronically manipulated, finally kinoscoped back to 16mm film. For transfer to the web, the film was projected and captured using a Panasonic HVX200A at 24fps. The soundtrack I produced on a Moog synthesizer in 1974/5."
