"Fenix 2, Fenix XL Rumours:
After we stopped with producing the Fenix we hear rumours about the successor of the Fenix. We want to try to give an answer at these rumours.

1- Will there a Fenix 2/3 and or Fenix XL. The answer is: We don't know. It is no problem to design these units, but producing these will cost a lot of time and storage space, and these we don't have. Actually we have already proto pcb's of new modules ready. So i think the change for a successor is 50%.

2- The successor will be an add-on for the fenix. Maybe but also maybe not.

3- The Fenix XL will be available only for Fenix owners. The answer is NO. If we came with new units, it will be available for everybody but in a very limited edition. We hope to make a decision before half 2009."

Vangelis Conquest of paradise (cover)

"My version of Vangelis' majestic masterpiece. The arturia cs80V that pops up in the video wasn't actually used for this track. I used the ESQ1 to re-create the lead sounds. I am trying to get my head around software and soft synths at the moment so it's only for show....for now lol! Heres the list of what did what.
Microkorg and Juno 106 -bass
Korg x5 - choir and pizzicato
Juno 6 - arpeggiator
Juno G- piano percussion and strings
Ensoniq ESQ 1- CS80 lead and sequencer"

Oberheim OB-12

via this auction

"The OB12 designed to recreate and emulate the classic sounds and tone of the original Oberheim analog filters. The OB-12 is a 12 voice synth with 4-part modelling synthesis. Loads of real-time knobs (22), sliders (24), and buttons (33) with a traditional layout give you fast hands-on access and control of most parameters. Extras include a ribbon controller, pitch bend and modulation wheel.
Aside from great analog sounds, the OB-12 has an amazing set of hi-tech features such as high quality LCD display that actually draws out all of the parameters you are changing. There are on board 5-band graphic & parametric EQ, ADSR's with delay time and double decay. An addictive Motion Recorder and manual or auto oscillator morphing for animated sounds or effects. Phrase Recorders and Arpeggiators with Independent tempo controls and 5 dedicated buttons are on-board with plenty of features and are MIDI syncable. There is also an extensive effects section that give you reverbs, delays, chorus and lots of overdrive algorithms. You'll also find digital SPDIF outputs, analog outputs, and MIDI in/out and thru.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Happy Turkey Day everyone. I hope it is a good one. I now present you with...

The one and only Turkey Synth.

Pictured here is the Harmonic Generator.
"Created by Isac Zal, the Harmonic Generator is a new experimental electronic instrument. It consists of five main components:
* 64 piano strings on the outside of the device are chromatically tuned to 32 notes.
* 32 corresponding motors with bristle paint brushes beating the strings at controlled speeds
* a homemade keyboard, played like a piano, controls motors.
* 12 pick-ups that focus on one octave of strings
* a transducer at the end of the instrument that feeds back the sound of the pick-ups into the large resonance hull"

Paper Sculpture: In a Quiet Corner of Sussex

KORG MS20 Paper Sculpture

You can find the full flickr set by gardenque here.

You might remember this one in the making here.

via gardenque:
"Korg MS20
When I used one of these synths back in 1983, we had to make sure that if we ever got a good sound, we had to record it there and then because we would never be able to reproduce it at a later time. Many years later, after it had been “resting” in a loft for a while, it was professionally refurbished. The guy that repaired it said that he didn’t know how we’d managed to use it at all because the two VCOs were so completely out of tune/out of synch. Mystery solved!

I decided to do a paper sculpture of the synth at 75% of the actual size. The second part of the paper sculpture will involve a vacuum cleaner! Anybody curious enough to
see the final piece should check back on Flickr over the next month or so.

Many thanks to Matrixsynth for putting up so many photographs of the MS20: they proved to be an invaluable source of reference material."
