Elka Synthex loves Roland TR 808

"Elka Synthex sequencer triggered with a tr 808 played along a nice Synthex pad and Synthex squarelead. The thin leadsound that drops in, is the Oberheim Xpander."

THE LM13600/LM13700 STORY

You can find the story here. I did a quick search on LM13600 here just to see what might come up. This one post on the KORG MS20 did. I did a search on LM13700 and this one post on the Salamandar synth came up. I'm curious what else used these chips.

"The LM13600 has designed by Bill Gross and myself in less than 5 minutes. At the time the Consumer Linear IC design group was training a new mask designer. We needed something with a few transistors for her to learn how to arrange them in a optimum circuit arrangement while using minimum silicon area."

Synth Surprise in Morrissey's "Last Of The Famous International Playboys"

This one spotted via Gunner:

"I was just taken aback by some synth content in a Morissey video(!) Synth at about 2:40 and for microseconds in a couple other places. Looks like the [Maplin] ETI 4600 "International", which corresponds too nicely with the song title to be incidental."

"This is the ETI 4600 intarnational synthesizer, structure based on Matrix patch panel like EMS VCS-3, AKS.
There are two different ETI 4600 versions: one blackface and the other extremly rare Silver face!
Sound like Space Odyssey ;-)"

Yamaha MDF2 Backlit Display Replacement

via wolzow.mindworks where you'll find the full instructions on replacing the display.

"Yamaha MDF2 is an impressive little piece of gear. It doesn't do much, but it does what it's supposed to do, it's pretty robust and has not failed on me yet. The main problem with it (besides 720K DD floppy disks) is that it's impractical on stage - the 1x16 LCD display does not have backlight. Fortunately, backlit LCDs are very similar to the ones without backlight so an improvement here shouldn't be that difficult."
