PAIA STRINGS N THINGS

via this auction

"Here is a very nice Paia Strings 'n' Things analog String and Piano Synth. It has two controls for modulation - Depth and Rate that allow a sort of flanging sound. This allows the keyboard to sound anywhere from an organ to a very nice and mellow stringer to a wild, nasty and almost reverby theater organ. The piano sound can be used separately or mixed into the strings. The modulation works on the piano sound as well. Most Paia products were sold in kit form and I've seen quite a few that have not been assembled very well. Whoever put this together knew what they were doing and did a very good job. The keyboard bushings have been replaced with new bushings so the keyboard action is excellent."

Sold For: US $404.00

ARP AXXE VINTAGE ANALOG SYNTH w PPC and LFO MOD

via this auction

"The slider caps are not original but look very nice and fit snug to the sliders. All sliders have been cleaned and properly lubricated. This synth has been fitted with the LFO free-run mod. Normally the ARP Axxe will reset the LFO every time a new key is pressed. This mod can switch off that LFO retrigger. This mod allow very expressive and smooth filter sweeps."

Sold For: US $709.99

Korg Polysix Synthesizer

via this auction BIN: $777.77
"As you can see in the above pictures this synth has an extra "printer cable" style connector that has been added to the side. The different wires leading to this connector connect to the individual keys of the keyboard. I did not do this mod and dont know exactly what its used for, but my best guess is that it was used to control another synthesizer that didnt have its own keyboard. If anyone has more details about what it could be please let me know. The modification does not affect the playability of the synth itself. I was thinking of removing it, but then there would be a hole in the case so I decided not to.

Korg Polysix's are best known for their leaking battery problems. The original battery was made to last 10 years after which they can spill acid over the circuit board. This is what has happened to this one, but I have replaced the original battery with a brand new one of a type that WILL NOT explode and done the necessary repairs to make the synth work properly with it. All the damaged traces have been cut and reconnected on the underside of the board as originally intended. The IC 31 chip was also replaced with a new one as it had suffered damage from the corrosion.

The new battery stores patches perfectly. I had no problems loading a set of original patches through the tape in connector."

"this is an alternate audio version to the original. a toy music box's sound drives the envelope follower on the Buchla 200e Electric Music Box's System Interface (225e) as well as provides the modulating signal for the Korg Radias' vocoder (the Buchla 200e provides the carrier).

all sound is generated by the Buchla 200e Electric Music Box and is processed by the Korg Radias' vocoder."
