GBX FLOOR BASS

via Craigslist Vancouver

"RARE early 70's GBX Floor Bass Model FB-1, the same layout as a four string bass guitar from the open strings up to and including the 8th fret. Original operating and tuning instructions are included. Pedals and base are in excellent condition, outer case has the usual scuffs."

$349

This one spotted and sent in via Kaden. This is the first post on GBX. Anyone know more about them?

Update via Kaden: "Canadian musicians of a certain age will remember GBX for their 'brains in a box' concept... they did guitar and base amplification based on powered speaker cabinets, with the heads only containing the pre-amp circuitry... need more volume? just add another cabinet. Never heard of the floor bass thingy though."

Lady in black

YouTube via attorks — May 18, 2010 — "Another improvisation with the Synthesizers.com Q960 sequencer now connected to the Q962 sequential switch. I guess the camera angle could be somewhat wider so you could see a little bit more of the actions but I reckoned another take would not give the same music.

The Q960 is synchronized by the Doepfer MAQ16/3 and rows 1 and 2 are used which are alternated by the Q962. The Q960 drives the Synthesizers.com Modular. The Oakley Equinoxe phaser is connected between the Q150 VCF and Q108 VCA. Stage 5 of the Q960 is connected to the frequency CV input to give an accent on that stage.

Row 1 of the MAQ16/3 does a 4-step sequence and drives the Ian Fritz Teezer Through-Zero VCO which sine wave is fed to the Resonant LoPass Gate. Row 2 of the MAQ16/3 I vary manually between a 4-, 6- and 8-step sequence. This row drives the self-built Modular.

The music is dedicated to a lady in black."

Folktek Arts Drone Scape X

via the Folktek Arts Blog where you will find more details, shots and samples. "The Drone Scape is a new work by Arius Blaze. This particular piece ("X") is one of a series of four identical works built into extremely tough and beautiful vintage cases. As the name implies, it is intended specifically for a broad range of drone - from lo-fi to extremely rich and lush, similar in nature to the Drum Scape series, though also quite different from any other folktek work. On the other hand, it's also capable of glitch, bleeps and blips, odd beats, shifting arpeggiation and all varieties of noise." Folktek on Ebay
