Phase Engineering LEQ-5 - Additional Details & Pics

You can find a demo of the LEQ-5 here.

via Innerclock Systems

"The LEQ-5 is a specialised five-band inductor EQ module crafted to enhance the 'sweet spots‘ across the bass spectrum. The design incorporates high-quality components that provide exceptional performance using genuine custom-wound ‘tuned’ inductor coils generating a wide sonic pallet and focused tone shaping with + / - 15dB of gain and attenuation on each band.

Features
* Five band induction-coil EQ tailored for low / low-mid frequency signal processing.
* Low and High frequency shelves.

Package Contents
* LEQ-5 Bass Equaliser module.
* 16-pin to 10-pin Euro-rack ribbon power cable.

Connecting the LEQ-5
Typically we would suggest inserting the LEQ-5 at the end of the audio signal path keeping the input signal level low enough to allow for the cumulative output signal gain possible.

Shelving EQ

Separate LF and HF shelving.

Inductive EQ

The use of inductors in equalisation circuitry has a rich history going back to the 1950s. Inductors can be found in the signal path of many high end vintage recording consoles, outboard EQ, bass and guitar amplification and effects pedals."

Introducing the Phase Engineering LEQ-5 Eurorack Module

video upload by Steve Turner

"You definitely want to listen to the demos through decent speakers or headphones. The bass adjustments wont be clear through frequency limited laptop or phone speakers.

The LEQ-5 is now in production and you can order the LEQ-5 by emailing info@phase.engineering directly.

You can also read my first impressions article on my website blog, https://steveturner.com.au/blog/blog/..."

"The LEQ-5 is the first module by Australian music technology designer, Phase Engineering. I am lucky to have one of six units that exist today, but a formal release will occur in the last half of 2024. Warren, the man behind the brand, is also the lead hardware engineer for Innerclock Systems who makes the fabulous Sync-Gen technology..."

Retrokits RK008, Third Wave synth and Innerclock Systems

video upload by Steve Turner

"In this quick video I show how EASY it is to record midi sequences into the RK008 Realtime Multitrack Midi Recorder. I start with a monophonic part and then show a simple chord part. I am doing all this one handed so don't expect Rick Wakeman (even if I had 100 hands). The point being how SIMPLE it is to create parts in the RK008 and then play them back into your hardware."

"Indispensable for anyone using vintage DIN sync instruments, like the Roland TB-303 and TR-808. This one is the original version (amazing build quality), no longer manufactured, and is in perfect, new condition."

Propellerhead Interface in original box via this auction

"Propellerhead Balance audio interface. It was designed to be used with Reason but will work with any DAW. The box has never been opened, which is why I didn't bother to open it to take pictures. These are no longer manufactured so here's your chance to own one brand new."

Innerclock Systems SYNC-GEN 3LX, MULTI-SPLIT, & GRIDLOCK II

via Innerclock Systems

SYNC-GEN 3LX Hardware Synchronisation

"DAW generated MIDI clock is susceptible to jitter.

Driving external hardware with unstable sync results in poor tempo stability, loss of rhythmic feel and problems maintaining accurate DAW grid alignment.

Many drum machines and hardware sequencers use Din-Sync or voltage clock synchronisation formats with a wide variety of rates. Integrating these devices in a DAW studio environment usually requires conversion, increasing latency and introducing more jitter.

Sync-Gen 3LX is a high resolution, sample-position and tempo-accurate synchronisation plug-in/sync interface combination for your DAW."

Innerclock Shiftsync Mark II SN 0018

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"This is a never-used, built like a tank, Innerclock Shiftsync Mark II.

From manufacturer's website:

The Sync-Shift MKII is actually three totally separate and very useful devices in one package. Rather than making all the connections internally we designed the MKII so that all three functions can be used independently and simultaneously if required.

1: Midi Clock to Din Sync Conversion – connect your DAW or Hardware Midi Clock Master to your vintage TR-808/TB-303 for precision Tempo-Sync conversion.

2: The Sync-Shift Engine – set the start offset switches on the MKII to any combination for rhythmic syncopation and then use the real-time Sync-Shift control to fine the perfect feel sweet spot and lock it in.

3: Din-Sync to Midi Clock Conversion – less common these days but very cool all the same. Love the feel and control of your vintage sequencer or drum machine? Make your TR-808 the Sync-Master and drive your DAW or Midi Clock Hardware as Tempo-Slaves."

Roland TR-09 and TB-03 Sync Tested by Innerclock Systems

Long time readers of MATRIXSYNTH will be familiar with Innerclock Systems' litmus tests. For those of you not familiar with Innerclock Systems, they pretty much are the authority when it comes to sync. They manufacture a number of dedicated hardware sync boxes. Well, they just took the new Roland TR-09 and TB-03 through their paces. You can find the results here. I won't ruin the results for you, but I will quote their take on the sound of the units compared to the originals:

"We only had 24 hours with these new toys from Roland. This post is primarily focused on timing and external sync performance but I had a few other observations. They sound great. Really. I’ve given up on the 1:1 audio comparisons with the originals because they are just so close. Being over 30 years old and analogue (hats and cymbals excluded on the TR-909) virtually every TR-909 and TB-303 sound slightly different anyway. In a mix or over a PA it’s never going to be an issue. These are light years ahead of the MC-303/MC-505/MC-909 period of the late 90′s thankfully."

Innerclock Systems Re-Releases Sync-Gen IILE Limited to 25 Units

Innerclock Systems is re-releasing their Sync-Gen IILE in a limited run of twenty five units. They will come with a MIDI Solutions Merge unit as well at no additional cost.

Details from the left:

“A few years ago we ceased production of our popular Sync-Gen IILE unit because we felt it couldn’t really compete with the newer Sync-Gen IIPRO

As part of our cleanup and reset for 2016 we discovered enough cases, boards and accessories in the factory to build another twenty five brand new Sync-Gen IILE units.

These solid devices are identical to the Sync-Gen IIPRO in terms of timing precision, ease of use and they run the identical Sync-Gen II software as well of course. They have a single MIDI Clock and a single DIN-Sync output but these can be expanded easily if required.

They originally retailed for $495AUD. Our offer to include a MIDI Solutions Merge unit ($100AUD) at no extra charge to celebrate the clean up goes for these last twenty five Sync-Gen IILE units as well. Purchase links are on the website."
