TOM-1501 Soviet Analog Stringmachine

via this auction
"This auction synth was made in 1985 in USSR. Serial Number: 05211

• It's a string machine with 5 preset sounds: Piano, clavesin/Harpsichord, Alto, Violin and Brass. Alto and Violin are exactly same sound but violin is one octave higher than alto, so you can make "string orchestra" sound.

• Sliders are divided into 8 sections from left to the right: Main volume, Vibrato, Section volume, Brass filter section, left manual section, String orchestra timbre, right manual section, sustain.

• This to be like Crumar Orchestrator/Multiman-s clone.

• This have great volume control. you mainly control 5 volume sliders of each presets, and therefore you can mix and blend them as you want. The keyboard is splittable for two zones.

• It have 10 volume sliders for the presets; 5 presets for each zones so you can mix them in any way you want, which is very very useful. And then it have section volume, where you can control "main" volume for piano and clavesin with one slider, and strings with other one. Also in between them there is volume slider for bass. You can add bass sound for the left manual, and under it have bass' ON/OFF push button.

•The Brass filter section is the filter only for brass sound. It have controls for cutoff, resonance and also simple AR (Attack, release).

Looks and built very great -wooden body and sides!

Akai MPK Mini

"AKAI PRO ANNOUNCES MPK mini, USB SOFTWARE CONTROLLER WITH KEYBOARD AND DRUM PADS

New USB Mini-Controller Fuses Akai Professional’s Popular LPK25 and LPD8 Controllers into One Powerful, Portable Package

Cumberland, R.I. (Oct. 1, 2010) – Akai Professional, the name synonymous with music production, announces the MPK mini, USB keyboard and pad controller. MPK mini will be unveiled at the 2010 BPM EXPO in Birmingham, England on October 2nd.

MPK mini strikes the perfect balance between portability and comprehensive software control by melding together the immediate control and grab-and-go convenience of the LPK25 and LPD8. The MPK mini is less than 13 inches across and weighs just over one pound and easily fits into a laptop case, backpack or messenger bag for extreme portability.

The MPK mini keyboard is ideal for quickly entering notes and phrases into a computer and is also velocity-sensitive. Dedicated Octave Up and Down buttons instantly access different pitch ranges and a Sustain button provides further performance options. The MPK mini also has a built-in arpeggiator to create sparkling, staccato leads and driving bass lines in a variety of time signatures and patterns.

MPK mini's eight backlit, velocity-sensitive pads are based on Akai Professional’s MPC line of iconic music production stations. Great for firing one-shot samples and sequencing drum patterns, the pads can send note information, MIDI CCs, or even program changes. Pressing the Bank button will quickly toggle between two banks of pads for 16 pads in total. Additionally, the MPK mini has eight assignable Q-Link knobs to control virtually any software parameter.

MPK mini is plug-and-play with Mac or PC and requires no software driver installation or wall power for operation. The included software editor quickly maps MPK mini's controls as well.

'Today’s music is constantly evolving, and that requires the tools for music creation to evolve similarly,” said Adam Cohen, Director of Business Development, Akai Professional. “The MPK mini is the perfect extension of the computer for making music in any setting.'"

BSF-1 - Virtual Bode Frequency Shifter

"The BFS-1 is a VST emulation of the famous Bode frequency shifter.

The original unit was available as an expensive module for the Moog™ modular system.
Now you can get this special sound into your PC for a reasonable price.

The frequency shifter is not a pitch shifter, which changes frequencies by a multiplikation. Instead it shifts all frequencies/harmonics by adding a fixed amount. The sound reminds to a ring modulator, but unlike this, it is possible to get the upshifted and downshifted signal seperately.

Unlike a ring modulator, the frequency shifter is also capable of changing the signal by a low amount, e.g. 1 Hz, to obtain effects known as “Barberpole flanging”.

This plugin has some additional features like delays for each section, an LFO (all host synced), an envelope with MIDI trigger and an envelope follower to modulate shift and/or volume."
