04 - Bicycle

via James Maier, aka Carbon111 on Facebook:

"Often maligned and despite its simplicity, there's just *something* about the SCI Six-Trak that keeps me from ever getting rid of it. Stack mode is lush and there's just something wonderful about the musical non-linearity of the Curtis CEM3394 filter! The incessant looping bassline in my song "Bicycle" from my album "Shadow" is testament to my love for this weird beastie"

Moog Slim Phatty & Little Phatty Performance Example

YouTube via experimentalsynth | January 24, 2011 |

"Some of the many ways the Moog Slim Phatty & Little Phatty can be used in performance. Of course, this all works in the studio as well. These CV and MIDI tricks can be applied to other Moog (and non-Moog) gear as well.

Bugbrand PRC5 Wavefolder - a quick demo

YouTube via BugBrand | January 24, 2011 |

"Here's an overview of the new PRC5 Wavefolder module.

We use here a simple Triangle wave input - ie something with low harmonics.
This is the upper trace on the oscilloscope - the lower trace is the output waveform from the Positive Output (there is also an inverted output)

There is an internal VCA which drives the Fold section - this can go from fully closed and as we adjust the Folds control you can see the waveform reach a peak of +/-5V and then it starts to fold in on itself - this gives the rich effect of adding harmonics.

The input wave can be offset - both by a manual Offset control, or by a 2nd input with level control.

Folds level is, of course, CV controlled. Four bi-coloured LEDs give an indication of the folding intensity and show the polarity of the waveform when running an LFO into the input."
