"http://www.twitter.com/thekeyboardcat - Austin, TX: Keyboard Cat knows the only way to get real cred at SXSW is to put up a bunch of posters and set up and play on the street! It's more exciting than an iPad 2 store!

Roland CR-8000 analog drum machine
YouTube Uploaded by malcolmgoldie on Mar 9, 2011
"This is a superb fully analog classic drum machine, one of the first programmable machines, and the forerunner to the famous TR808 (although I prefer the CR8000).
Serial number 400640, i believe it was made in 1980/81."
Vintage Roland CR-78 w/ Kenton Midi SN 770490
via this auction
"In order to really take advantage of the sounds of the CR-78 I sent the unit to Kenton in London England and had them install a KADI port so I could connect the unit to a Pro Kadi unit. This allows you to control each individual drum sound via midi. I remember the first time I connected my newly retrofitted CR-78 to my Kenton and my Atari 1040st running cubase. I was blown away. To my ears, the kick on the CR-78 is better than the kick on my TR-909 and TR-808. (I still love them though.) I was drawn to the CR-78 because of the great interface that almost forces you to create new ideas. In my opinion when you add the ability to control the CR-78 via midi you get the ultimate analog beat experience. In order to use the midi function you will need one of the Kenton midi interfaces that has a KADI port. You will need a Kenton Pro-Kadi, pro solo, pro-4, or pro-2000."
Roland CSQ-600 vintage analog sequencer
"The Roland CSQ-600 - a microcomputer-controlled digital CV/gate Sequencer. It features four programmable sequences which can be chained together or played at the same time. Sequences can be recorded via an external CV/gate input or using step-time. Portamento can be either programmed or adjusted manually as a sequence is being played"
Roland MSQ-700
"The MSQ-700 is an 8-track sequencer that holds up to 6,500 notes that can be stored. Several functions of the MSQ-700 include a chain function, multi-track function, overdubbing and a merge function. Use it to control your TR-909, or Juno-60 or any other MIDI equipment. The MSQ-700 is compatible with both MIDI and Roland's proprietary DCB sync methods, although it can't do both at the same time."
