Live Techno Series #6 [TR-909, MC-909, Virus TI2, MPC2500]

YouTube Uploaded by siedgey on Mar 30, 2011

"Thanks for checking this out!

I have just moved into a new recording studio in Glasgow and finally have a place to set up all of my equipment permanently and build the room of my dreams! In this video, I teamed up with Mr Copy and Vakama to have the first live jam in the studio - a techno monster running completely live on hardware - the computer was only used to record the session.

The setup is as follows: MC-909 is sequencing the Virus TI2 and providing MIDI clock to the Virus, MPC and TR-909. The bassline, the clicks and the pad in the breakdown is coming from the Virus (controlled by me and played using the Waldorf Blofeld keyboard via MIDI), the 909 sounds are coming live from the TR-909 through the MC-909 audio input (controlled by Vakama) and the MPC is playing the kick drum and some percussion, as well as the chopped dub vocal throughout the track (controlled by Mr Copy).

Let me know your thoughts on the session - we had a great time recording it, it only took 3 takes to get something that sounded really nice but I could've kept going all night... :]

In other news, here are a list of places I will be playing in the next couple of months. If a show is near you then come down and say hello! Or else if you would like to make a booking for a free date then please get in touch"

Fletch Theme - Roland Fantom X6 Nordlead 2X VP330

"Finally a new video with synthesizers! ... A new revisited version of the almight Fletch Theme composed by Harold Faltermeyer.

Featuring three fabulous instruments in their own rights:

- Roland Fantom X6 provides the drum track (using a drumkit from the Ultimate Keys SRX Expansion board) and the Synth brass.

- Clavia Nordlead 2X for that cool Sync sound (Unison turned OFF for the beginning, turned ON for the rest). You can see how I programmed the sound with an Alesis Ion on my old Fletch Theme video.

- Roland VP330 Vocoder Plus... One of the coolest instruments ever made. It speaks for itself... (pun intended)"

Airböurne Modular Synthesizer System

"Complete Airböurne Synthesizer System. It consists of three parts:
Synthesizer Airböurne AVS-04A (right), Synthesizer Expander Airböurne AVS-04B (mid) and Sequencer AMS-496 (left).
The system will be exhibited at Prolight & Sound in Frankfurt in Hall 8, booth L57 between April 6th and April 9th 2011."

I actually saw an earlier version of this system in person during my visit to the Synthorama synth museum in Switzerland. It is as impressive as it looks. Click on the Airböurne and Synthorama label links below to go exploring.

Escape from Noise

Just a heads up that Escape from Noise has been added to the Dealers section on the right. They are a synth shop based out of Sweden. You can check out their site in Swedish here, or English here. They have a used gear section. You might remember them from this prior post on the Metasonix S-1000. Remember to support the shops that support the site. You can find them all on the right! ;) Accidental rhyme, I swear.
