Oberheim TVS-1a

via this auction

"Everything works perfectly and was last serviced 2 years ago at a store in NYC called Dr. Sound. It hasn't seen a lot of use in the last couple of years and never left my recording studio. It has a low serial number which is 0420 and I believe was built in 1975. The synth is 100% analog. Phat bass notes and crazy noises can be created with this Oberheim. It only has one voice so it is monophonic but you can easily buy another voice and pop it in there by just removing the top plate."

Yamaha PSR-4600

Yamaha PSR-4600s on eBay. Update: this one is now listed here (bottom three pics below).
"I plan posting this on eBay very soon, but due to it being a quite an uncommon synth, I felt obligated to upload a video of it making sounds so others can appreciate. I only wish I was a better musician so I could make it really shine .

This is a rare vintage Yamaha PSR keyboard circa 1990. There is very little known about this model, the manual is rather short and took a while to discover some of it's undocumented features. I'm sure there are more mysteries to be solved.

I affectionately call this "The Albatross" because of the odd roll bars and weird pattern sequencer. As you can see, it's covered it buttons and sliders. I love the LED display as well as the printouts on the upper panel.
Physically, the keyboard makes a great controller. The keys are firm, responsive and despite the oddness of the roll bars, they are playable.

Nonetheless, the sounds it produces can be quite good.
At it's heart is a 12bit AWM synth and a 2 operator FM synth. Patches can be edited (slightly) and stored. You can layer sounds and split them. It has MIDI, velocity sensitive keys and digital reverb. Some patches crossfade between AWM and FM tones, like a fixed vector synth. This came out about the same time as the Yamaha TG33.

I could be wrong, but I believe this keyboard was a precursor to the big arranger type keyboards... like the Yamaha Tyros."

"Bass line produced by the Catgirl sequencer to (2) Q106 VCOs then a synthacon filter. A Hordijk HRM OSC is being triggered by the MFOS Rotary Seq & a MATTSON Envelope is altering inputs along with LFOs and it is going through a Q107 Filter(w LFO panned R). MFOS is also going to the MOTM 1485 GX-1 Diode Filter(1v input) through a Metasonix R52(also LFO panned L).TipTop Z8000 is sending 2 pitches to 2 Blue Lantern Black Jack VCOs (4 steps) through the Mattson filter. Also sending 4 steps to a Q106 through the STG Mankato filter. Finally 16 steps from the Z8000 are going to a Malekko Anti-Osc being altered by a Noisering!!"

Suzuki Portachord Tronichord

via this auction

"Also Known as 'Tronichord' model pc-27

This is the "original" omnichord (well, it was the beginning of the evolution of the omnichord). This is the first of it's kind, and it then led to the future production of the Omnichord which has more features/options.

I sent this to Suzuki to have the power source modified. Being that this is from the late 70's, the battery compartment had a very old terminal for AA batteries. I could barely get today's AA batteries to fit in, and when they did, they were almost impossible to get them back out. The connection was also undependable and the batteries often felt hot. So about a year ago, I sent it to Suzuki and "Franz"(I guess he is known as the omnichord guy) replaced the AA terminal with a 9-volt. This is much more convenient for quickly swapping batteries out if you were to play it on stage. The battery life seems to be unaffected by replacing the AA's with one 9-volt. Franz from Suzuki thought, if anything it might last longer. He tested it for 4 hours and said it still played(battery didn't die)... After being serviced, the battery door hasn't stayed on as well as it used to..."
