Eigenharp Alpha with Slim Phatty experiment

YouTube Uploaded by gbevin on Dec 5, 2011

"While experimenting with upcoming features of EigenD 2.0, I was testing out the new audio input support and came up with this experiment.

I'm playing my Moog Slim Phatty with the Eigenharp Alpha by routing its audio back into EigenD through my Metric Halo ULN-2 audio interface. This allows me to use Audio Units for real-time performance effects through host automation parameters while playing the analogue synth through MIDI at the same time.

The Slim Phatty is full driven with 14-bit MIDI for modulation and volume, modulation being tied to a key's sideways motion, while slight volume changes are tied to pressure. Pitch is, as usual, tied to a key's up and down motion.

The audio units used are Rob Papen's Delay, Distort and the iZotope Ozone limiter. The Eigenharp's breath pipe is tied to the amount of distortion that's applied and the first strip controller is tied to the amount of feedback that is used in the delay. At the same time, the key modulation also changes the filter frequency for the distortion effect.

The sample rate of EigenD an my audio interface is set to 96kHz with only 96 samples as a buffer size. This really captures the nuances of the analogue audio as well as reduces the latency so much that every interaction with the effects feels instant.

For the purists, you can download the original 96kHz file as recorded, without post processing from SoundCloud: http://soundcloud.com/gbevin/eigenharp-alpha-with-slim-phatty-experiment"

Octatrack + Machinedrum + Little Phatty = Redux Rehab

YouTube Uploaded by n3bsvid on Dec 5, 2011

"The octatrack and machinedrum provide the drums. The octatrack is also sequencing the little phatty.

Just off camera I'm tweaking the little phatty with my right hand in real time. Just a little experimenting with lo-fi + distortion. The machinedrum is routed through the octatrack, all the bit reduction + distortion is done by the octatrack. The little phatty is routed separately and has some eventide space applied to it.

Hardware:
Elektron Octatrack
Elektron Machinedrum UW+ MKII
Moog Little Phatty Stage 2
Eventide Space (very subtle amount on the little phatty)"

Home build mini organ with TOS

YouTube Uploaded by organfairy on Dec 5, 2011

"In the last video I made a Top Octave Synthesizer. Now I will use it to make a small polyphonic instrument that can be played as it is or controlled by a sequencer.
Apart from the TOS I use a set of electronic keyers, a VCO made with and LM555, and a simple filter.

The music is from 2009 and is played on Yamaha HE-8 and Elka X-30 organs, and Roland JX-8P synthesizer."

IDOW & MATRIXSYNTH Modular Pic of the Week - Week 6 Contest Winner!

"Our sixth winner of the Modular Pic of the Week contest goes to Lu Katavist for his 'modular dome.'

Based in Cologne, Germany, Lu Katavist creates soundscapes with eurorack modular and Haken Continuum fingerboard. Dogma for recordings: Everything is played live and improvised, without posterior editing. He has released an album ("retoxis") on his own label. Lu thoroughly enjoys playing live, and supported Keiji Haino, December 2011 in Cologne.

For more info, please visit his own label's website: http://smalldeath.org/

We'd like to give a big thanks and congratulations to Lu Katavist for his submission! This is the 6th week of a 30-week contest, and we are looking forward to many more modular photo submissions, so please keep 'em coming! For details on how to submit and what you can win, see this post.

See the IDOW label for all posts pertaining to the film including the weekly contest winners.

A SPECIAL NOTE FROM IDOW DIRECTOR, ROB FANTINATTO: "Hello everyone…just wanted to express my sincere thanks to all of you who have generously donated to this project. Roland D-50: Using Chase function- (demo)

YouTube Uploaded by TheSynthFreq on Dec 4, 2011

"HI! :)
Here's a short demo of the Chase function offered on D-50.
Although its not an arp., it's a useful feature. The Time and Level of 'Chase' can be changed to effect how long 'Chase' will occur and how loud the delay/echo of each note will be.
The speed can be varied as well. There are a few configurations of U & L that can be specified by the user . Those setting are: U/L, U/L/L, and so on. :) TSF"

1981 MOOG International World Map of Synth Service Centers

via this auction

"YEAH! This is it! The Holy Grail of Moog accessories; The fabled MOOG International World Map! This was included with a Moog Source I bought back in '83. The Source is long gone, but I held onto the map and kept it folded and safe...until now! Never hung, no tape, no pinholes, no rips or tears, and no pen or pencil markings. Suitable for framing, map is delicate but in great shape and ready to be hung in your studio! I don't know who the coolest record producer in the world is, but I know they better have one of these in their studio! Has a full map of the world on one side (circa 1981) and a full directory of authorized Moog service centers on the other."

Dolittle Ram Cartridge

via Mark

"Dolittle B-25 Turbo Ram Cartridge for Kawai K-3 and K-3M synths. I am trying to find out more information about the cartridge (how many banks total as compared to the basic Kawai RC-8 Cartridge) Also, what is the value of a cartridge like this?"

If anyone knows, feel free to leave a comment.
