Human Resistance Synthesizer

This is a lo-fi synthesizer that is played by bridging a connection between the two large contact handles. The pitch is controlled by the amount of resistance. The more resistance or lighter touch produces lower frequencies. This oscillator is then modulated by a LFO, giving this device very nice throaty, almost vocal sounds. It can also be played through multiple people creating a human chain.

The three large knobs control the speed of the LFO, a low-pass filter, and volume. It is powered by an included 9volt battery. A green LED indicator flashes in sync with the modulation. A standard 1/4" output makes it perfect to connect to amps, effects, or recording equipment.

This is the second of a matched pair of these I built using repurposed cigar boxes, salvaged handles, and new as well as salvaged components."

Right now its basically 2 voices. 2 40106 oscillators high speed driving 2 dividers, the /2, /4, /8 outs are the LP, BP, HP inputs on a simple filter, of which cutoff is controlled by a vactrol from a variable triangle LFO."

"One Man, One Theremin, One AudioCube :^) In this video I perform the instrumental electronic music song "Control Zone" off of my album I HEAR YOUR SIGNALS which you can download from markmosher.bandcamp.com/album/i-hear-your-signals.

I'm routing the Moog Etherwave Theremin analog signal into Ableton Live and convert the pitch-to-MIDI in real-time then route the signal to various virtual instruments hosted out of Live. I then use a Percussa AudioCube in Sensor mode to add 4 additional dimensions of modulate in real-time. So 6 dimensions of spatial control. I'm changing the signal routing of the Theremin to route MIDI to different virtual instruments on the fly using the Novation Launchpad. I definitely went for "Hendrix" in parts of the song.

"The Korg Mono/Poly debuted in 1981 and is a powerful and classic mono-synth. With a great self-oscillating Korg 24dB filter, 4 versatile VCO's and nice envelopes it creates that classic Korg sound. With a number of other little tricks up it's sleeve, including a Paraphonic mode, Arpeggiator, Sync, Cross-mod, LFO rate abuse and the like, it's timbral range can be pushed even further!

In this video i've put together a number of tracks using only the Mono/Poly, a CV interface, some drum samples, and the odd subtle plugin effect. There's everything from dirty dirty Techno basses & cutting hoover sounds, to funky retro leads and synth brass, to pure insanity care of Mr LFO and Mr Xmod.
