Rheyne - 5/23/12 - Live Jam #44

YouTube Published on May 23, 2012 by RheyneMusic

"Live looping improv jam using analog keyboards, USB controllers, and iOS devices. iPads are running Animoog, Lemur, and SoundPrism Pro. SP Pro is triggering NI's Massive through an iConnectMIDI. A DJ TechTools MIDI Fighter 3D is controlling loopers, drums, and a monophonic synth. Its rotation is mapped to filters and vibrato. Normally my drums are played on an Akai MPD26, but wanted to get used to the MF3D for a portable live rig. An Akai APC20 and Novation Launchpad are controlling the recording and playback of loops in Ableton Live. The DSI MoPho, Fender Rhodes, and Moog Prodigy are all running through a PreSonus 1818VSL connected to a Macbook Pro.

All loops are recorded live."

"Bob Moog (May 23, 1934 -- August 21, 2005) revolutionized electronic music with his introduction of the Moog synthesizer line in the 1960s. This video is our tribute to his legacy, created with our own MATLAB-based software synthesizer. Happy Birthday!"

"In occasion of Bob Moog's 78th birthday, Google dedicated today's Doodle to Dr. Moog and his most famous invention: the Minimoog. Here's a quick comparison between the Google Doodle, and a real Minimoog ;-)"

Happy Birthday Bob Moog, from Stevie Wonder

YouTube Published on May 23, 2012 by MoogMusicInc

"In a wonderful and impromptu honor to Bob Moog on his 78th birthday, the legend himself Stevie Wonder, sings happy birthday to Dr. Moog. Stevie makes the bday wishes extra funky with a talkbox and the instrument that inspired the immensely popular Moog Google Doodle, the Minimoog Voyager, Bob Moog's most popular analog synthesizer design.

Mr. Wonder has shared a life-long history with Moog synthesizers beginning in the early-mid 1970s when he released a series of chart topping records including "Talking Book" that made extensive use of Moog synthesizers. He is a musical genius and from everyone at Moog Music: WE LOVE YOU, STEVIE!

"So this a Speak and Spell which i just finished modding and wanted to show how useful it can be in a somewhat musical context, i have a vid of it just raw no effects or post production editing .So to balance it out here is how it sounds with some other noise making gear.

Raymond Scott Archives Remembers Bob Moog

"Of course Bob Moog was a brilliant engineer and circuitry expert, but he was also among the most modest and unpretentious people we've met. We're thrilled that through the efforts of his daughter, Michelle Moog-Koussa, her dad is receiving the recognition he deserves. He was also an Advisory Board member of The Raymond Scott Archives, and was always a great supporter of RS, and of all our efforts. Here are Moog's memories of his old friend and colleague"

Don't miss this one. It's a really nice look back on some of the history and influences of Bob Moog directly from the man himself. Bob Moog on seeing Raymond Scott's workplace for the first time: "So there my father and I were with our mouths hanging open! It looked like heaven to me. My father was an electrical engineer who worked for Consolidated Edison, and I was a twenty year-old electronics nerd who found himself on the track to becoming an engineer... Raymond then brought us into the big room downstairs where he had music synthesis equipment."

TiltingAtWindmills - All Yamaha CS80 Track

TiltingAtWindmills by Drooo
"This entire cue was done with only one synthesizer--an actual Yamaha CS80. All melodic and percussive sounds (even the kick) were done on a real CS. For the drum kit, the CS was sampled and loaded into Kontakt. It was multitracked to Digital Performer, and there are 47 stereo tracks in the mix.
I spent a year of on and off work restoring this infernal machine, so I thought it was time to actually write something for it. Normally, I wouldn't want to do an entire cue with just one synth, because that one instrument's character often overwhelms the mix (sort of like doing a symphony for 48 clarinets and nothing else). The CS80 is an instrument with a very broad, expressive range. There is a vague futility in doing pure synth cues these days, especially with a monster like this machine, so the proper name for this piece iof music is:
