Octatrack Pro Tip #3 - Sampling and crossfader transitions
YouTube Published on Jun 21, 2012 by ElektronHQ
"A Machinedrum is being MIDI slaved to an Octatrack. The Octatrack samples the Machinedrum using one shot recorder trigs. The sampled loops are used for making smooth transitions when changing Machinedrum patterns.

This movie is a first impression of Beatsurfing.
This is a very interesting funky MIDI controller.
It played only by iPad this time.
Sunrizer and DM1 used it simultaneously.
Although this is very simple directions for use, it can also be more complicated.
If ableton LIVE etc. are controlled, that it is various should be able to understand."

"Martin's prototype euclidean sequencer, it's excellent fun. It has two channels which send triggers to whatever you like. Each channel has the same three knobs and a switch. Importantly for me it makes rhythms that are really useful in a dance floor kind of way. Useful patches are often hard to come by on modulars :) And you can hear the same sort of patch, over a beat from the computer, on sound cloud here:

Eventually I'll finish my drum modules so the beats can come straight out of the modular.

"More tinkering with the Dual Analog Shift Register module from Cat Girl Synth. I used a quantizer to an Synthetic Sound Labs Ian Fritz Double Dekka VCO but the other six vco's are un-quantized to show the tuning instability of the ASR.
The two ASR's are in series and clocked together. The voltage source is a Q119 step sequencer from synthesizers.com. Modulation is mixed with the sequencer voltage from a MegaOhm Audio LFO2 module at one point in the video. This makes the "wandering" feeling to the otherwise droning sequence.
I forgot to use the looping portion of the Dual ASR. It is not working correctly because of a voltage droop nature which makes the pitch voltage rise on each loop pass. The effect is pretty novel but not exactly stable."

Mini-documentary on 'sampling' circa 1989

"Broadcast on Australian television circa 1989 when sampling was still relatively new and controversial.
Is it art or stealing?
Debbie Gibson, Tom Petty and Richard Wilkins' hair know best."
