"Two Minute Ableton Live Tip #16: Novation LaunchPad Step Sequencer. I found this step sequencer for the LaunchPad online. It's my favorite LaunchPad sequencer. It doesn't require Max for Live! ***I did not create this, I am just spreading the word!***
It is available @: http://bit.ly/lpsequencer

Actual Memories - Compilation Tribute In Memory of Ryan Faubion
Daren Ager wrote in to let me know that the Elektron user community has gathered together to create a compilation in memory of Ryan Faubion, the former administrator of Elektron-Users.com. The funds raised from the release will go to his family.
"It is a community effort to help raise funds for the family of the administrator of the Elektron Users forum Ryan Faubion who sadly passed away earlier this year. He is survived by a wife and young son."
via http://actual-memories.com/
"As the former administrator of Elektron-Users.com, Ryan Faubion will leave behind an online community that encompasses his desire to bring artists together. Ryan's dedication to and belief in the community of artists on Elektron-Users.com was reflected in his ready willingness to lend a hand and to connect people. From musicians, tinkerers, and device designers to noise-makers, sound-sculptors and Elektron-users, Ryan fostered, maintained and developed a community that connected, and will continue connecting, artists from across the world. A talented graphic designer and musician in his own right, Ryan's passion for bringing people together was rivaled only by his love for art.
As a tribute to Ryan's enduring influence and in thanks, the Elektron-Users.com community presents »Actual Memories«. All of the funds collected from the sale of the compilation will go to Ryan's family."

Innerclock Systems Runs Sync & Timing Litmus Test on iOS
If you recall from this post there has been a bit of discussion on MIDI timing in iOS. David Lackey of Innerclock Systems, which specializes in the syncing of devices, just ran a few tests. Sync appears to do better with KORG's Wireless Sync-Start Technology WIST, and of course internal sync, but not so well with external hardware MIDI sync. He ran tests with an iPad2 64GB OS 6 synced to an Akai MPC-3000 which is known to have great timing. You'll find the full results for each app tested at Innerclock Systems here. Note this is for the iPad syncing to other devices and not other devices syncing to the iPad. I'm curious if it will be like the Roland TR-909. The 909 syncs horribly to other gear but other gear syncs to it fine.
via David Lackey on the Facebook post thread here (keep an eye on it for updates): "Regularly 11ms slop between consecutive 16ths at any Tempo from a stable Midi Source. Detectable by even the most rhythmically compromised human being? Absolutely. A serious musical instrument contender? I'll leave that to your own subjective judgement. Note that the jitter is consistently around 560 samples between consecutive 16th notes regardless of Tempo. It will 'sound/feel' better at slower tempos because the slower you get the less that jitter value impacts as an overall percentage on the tempo/timing precision."

via the seller: "A rare collectable British classic, this OSCar is in near mint condition and perfect working order.
I have had five OSCars over the years. This was my favorite one. It seems to have some extra overdrive or something. It goes a bit dirtier sonically and has more bite and character.

The sequencer and Arp are fantastic for generating ideas spontaneously.
It has been fully serviced and upgraded by James Walker. It has midi and the latest and latest Operating System Eprom OM2a.
The potentiometers and battery have been replaced, insuring smooth reliable operation.
The only thing to mention cosmetically is there is a small chip on the E2 key (image 5)"
