"DYSKOGRAF is a graphic disk reader.  Each disc is created by visitors to the installation by way of felt tip pens provided for their use.  The mechanism then reads the disk, translating the drawing into a musical sequence.

RIP Pete Namlook

Ambient and electronic music producer, composer and founder of the German record label, FAX +49-69/450464 has passed away at the age of 52.  Below you'll find a track he composed with Ludwig Rehberg (E.M.S.) and an interview.  He worked with a Moog modular, pictured, and of course plenty of other synths.  Update: In 2008 he ordered two custom "Blue Meanie" MacBeth M5Ns. New image of Pete Namlook below.

via Wikipedia "Pete Namlook (born 1960 as Peter Kuhlmann [ˈkuːlmaːn] [Namlook is Kuhlmann in reverse] in Frankfurt, Germany, died on November 8th 2012[1]) was an ambient and electronic-music producer and composer. In 1992, he founded the German record label FAX +49-69/450464, which he oversaw. Inspired by the music of Eberhard Weber, Miles Davis, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Chopin, Wendy Carlos, Tangerine Dream and Pink Floyd, he also composes his own albums."

Subtractor Meets Creamware ASB

This of course is just a render. I spotted it on Tommy Welsch of Anyware Instruments Facebook feed. What immediately came to mind was a Creamware ASB desktop synth. It's too bad they are gone.  It would have been interesting to see what else they could have come up with.  The Creamware Minimax and Prodyssey ASB boxes are known for sounding incredibly close to the originals and in turn, very, very good.   They also added polyphony, which made them the closest things you could get to a polyphonic Minimoog and ARP Odyssey.
When Creamware folded, Sonic Core and Use Audio were formed. Sonic Core still produces the Scope Platform which features the Minimax and Prodyssey software emulations and well as others. Use Audio released the models in their plugiator desktop hardware synth. Sonic Core also worked with John Bowen Synth Design on the Solaris.

Subtractor of course is part of Propellerhead's Reason.

Gestrument Demo

Published on Nov 15, 2012 by Apps4idevicesMusic

http://www.apps4idevices.com/read/gestrument

"Wahou...!!! I love, love Gestrument! Because you can create a symphonic arrangement with one finger! 128 instruments are available in the built in library (with great sound quality). 8 instruments can play at the same time. Move your finger on the dedicated area to play notes. In the Edit window you can set 2 scales and morph between them by using a second finger on the Pad window. With your second finger you can also change the Pitch, the Rhythm (you can also set the rhythm so the notes play in the Edit window), the Dynamics and the Pulse (Density). You can also control an external Synthesizer with Gestrument. The only drawbacks are that you can't record your Performances (so share them) or import a Backing track. Note that it is only the v1.0 of Gestrument and perhaps that in a future update these features will be added... As I said at the start of this review, I really, really love Gestrument, for its originality, for it's sound quality and I'm sure I'll use it for my personal projects... So, despite what it lacks I rate it as a Killer App"
