New Hans Zimmer Studio Pics by Peter Gorges

flickr By Peter Gorges

Top: "Taken today - I got to spend some time here all by myself. Been here a hundred times but the place still has the same effect on me that Cathedrals had when I was a kid.

7-exposure HDR, mapped in Photomatix, treated in Niksoftware Color Effects."

Bottom: "Another shot of Oscar-awarded film composer Hans Zimmers out-of-this-world studio.
Hard to believe, but it takes HDR to capture this room - conventional camera sensors fail miserably. The whole room is just dark, light-absorbing surfaces (velvet, wood) and a few pointed light sources. There's no way to just 'take a photo of it'.

"This image is created from 6 exposures (0.7 bracketing), processed in Photomatix Pro, with tons of subtle manual color and light corrections in Niksoftware Viveza, and some Nik Sharpener Pro."

Synth spotting: Aside from the Moog and Roland library walls there's RSF in there, stacks of Roland MKS-80s, a Hartmann Neuron, Alesis Ion, Waldorf Q and XT racks, and... he has a Schmidt. On the right, there's a Roland MKS-80 with MPG-80 programmer under the XT and I'm not sure what that is with a blue LCD and red LEDs underneath. I thought it might be a Novation Nova or Supernova, but their screens have two rows, one with the name of the patch and one with the number of the patch.

You can find the original giantor size shots on flickr.

"Fall" m83 x Big Black Delta w/ Prophet 12 & Tempest

Published on Feb 5, 2013 peterkeys88·20 videos

"A synthy cover of the M83 x Big Black Delta remix of Daft Punk's "Fall"....using just the Prophet 12 splits and Tempest (in playlist mode). More music at http://peterdyer.net/

Once again, the creative and talented Carson Day jammed on this w/ me at Namm '13, tweaking the Tempest live, but since no video emerged of it, I wanted to share the sounds, as it was an absolute blast to play, and I've got to hand it back for now. I'll try to abstain from anymore Tron OST or covers of remixes for a while. :)"

KORG Poly-61 with MIDI.

"Korg made approximately 15,000 Poly 61's, but only in the end did they produced a limited number of the MIDI-equipped Poly 61M. This synthesizer has serial # 001150 (photo #7). The 61M is more desirable than the 61 and it is more difficult to find because of smaller production numbers.

Year of release: 1983 / Polyphony: 6-voice / Sound generation method: analog, 2 DCOs / Preset memories: 64 / MIDI: in, out, thru / Sequencer: no / Arpeggiator: yes"

Doepfer MAQ16/3 Sequencer - Direction via MIDI

direction via midi from N K on Vimeo.
"This video simply shows that it is possible to switch direction of an Doepfer MAQ16/3 sequence from random to forward with the forward section starting from step 1. Normally, the forward section would start from the last random step. Start from step 1 was achieved with a series of MIDI commands from DAW sequencer (in this case Ableton Live) sent to the MAQ."

QuNexus NAMM Demo

Published on Feb 5, 2013 Keith McMillen Instruments·161 videos

"QuNexus was shown in the KMI booth at NAMM 2013. This video contains examples of the QuNexus NAMM demo:

- Channel Rotation (MIDI channel is assigned in the order that keys are pressed, allowing for poly-pitch bend).

- Hold Note function (useful for stacking chords or step sequencing).

- LED Arpeggiator Feedback (Ableton Live's arpeggiator is used to remotely control each of QuNexus' LEDs. Each of the 32 LEDs can be controlled by any MIDI device or DAW)."

NAMM 2013: Mini Sofa Conversations at The Bob Moog Foundation Booth

Full gallery on Facebook here.

The Synth Nymph gets the post.  You might remember her from this post with an Adromeda A6 and this Synth Lord post.

"Kelly Marie (aka Synth Nymph) fell in love with the couch -- and of course she knows you can only play it one note at a time. — at Namm 2013."

"The Bob Moog Foundation rocked Winter NAMM in Anaheim from January 24-27. For four days, we exhibited and demonstrated both a massive Moog modular synthesizer belonging to synth maestro Erik Norlander and a very special modified Minimoog, that was donated to us by sessions synthesist Tom Coppola. The Mini couch donated to us by Woouf Barcelona also drew lots of attention. Thanks to everybody who stopped by. We had a blast and we're looking forward to cultivating many new relationships and projects started at NAMM!"
