Prototype Demo: Breadboard Based Modular Synth System

Prototype Demo: Breadboard Based Modular Synth System from Phillip Stearns on Vimeo.

"This video demonstrates some prototype modules being developed by Phillip Stearns and Pete Edwards for a larger breadboard based modular synth system. The current collection of modules demonstrated here were developed and designed by Phillip Stearns using a stackable, header-based form factor designed by Pete Edwards. Each module features a curated collection of CMOS chips configured into powerful core multipurpose functions. At the heart of the design approach and ethos is the desire for endless musical and electronic invention, exploration, and discovery from the bottom up or the top down.

The current lineup of modules includes:
The Shifter: A complex signal generator that utilizes an 8-bit linear feedback shift register.
Divide by 2 by 2 by 2 by 2...: a frequency divider that produces 12 sub octaves with three programmable 1 of 8 outputs.
Divide by 3 - 10: A frequency divider that produces subharmonics
The Digitizer: A real-time 3-bit ADC
The Rhythm Brain: Three synchronized, independently programmable binary rate multipliers."

[Music] Swiveling Marble Eyes (Sunvox + Pixilang)

"This time I experimented with using a different scale than usual and incorporating some spoken word into the track. I know I broke my rule about using no samples, but only the vocals were sampled. I still use only Sunvox modules for the rest of the sounds. :-)

I used Pixilang for the visualization again. However, I rendered at 640x360 and zoomed in to get to 1280x720. This boosted the frame rate, so I hope it is a bit smoother than the last video. There is nothing too special about the video. The circles are just images that I made in GIMP and tinted by Pixilang.

Plogue chipcrusher: Advanced Bitcrusher, Speaker Simulator and more! | Effect Plugin

Published on Jun 4, 2013 wwwPLOGUEcom·12 videos

"chipcrusher is an advanced bitcrusher, a speaker simulator and noise machine. It's an audio effect which plays back input audio through a simulation of early lofi digital audio codecs (DAC Encoding), adds grit (Background Noise), and outputs through a selection of speaker and filter impulse responses (Post-Processing).

It can work as a VST/AU/RTAS plug-in for most major sequencing audio programs and supported tracker programs on Windows and OS X."

"Another feedback patch using a Res EQ as only sound source, feedbacked through a TWS, itself modulated by a DTG. Even if you don't watch the whole thing (I won't blame you), be sure to watch around 2:35 ;)"

"I'm sure that you don't know this little synth... It's a shame, because it comes with lots of good ideas... When you're on the main screen, you can see a big purple Pad on the right hand side of your screen. Play notes by dragging you finger on the vertical axe, change the modulation by dragging your finger on the horizontal axe. Below, you can see a keyboard. This keyboard displays the notes you are playing, you can't play with it... In fact, all the parameters of this synth can be assign to the accelerometer of your iDevice. For example, you can assign the delay time on a key, and choose what will happen depending of your motions. Read the post, the bubbles are more explicit than I am... There is also another big Pad close to the other. This one is the arpeggiator. I should say, the 4 arpeggiators... Very well thought out... Check out the bubbles... To conclude, Synth Prob is a Killer miniSynth, a really good surprise."

This one has been out for a while, but I realize I never captured the details below. You'll find a tutorial video in this previous post.
