Update: some updates in grey below.
"In December 2012 I was visiting a friend in Vancouver, BC and he showed me his working example of the legendary Buchla 700 analog / digital hybrid synthesiser. This highly advanced synthesiser was developed and produced in the late 1980s by Californian electronic instrument pioneer Don Buchla, using proprietory hardware and software components. About 12 of these machines were ever produced, and there are possibly only 4 working examples left in existance. My friend showed me some of its sound producing capabilities and then left me to explore for myself. Presented here are the results of the hour or so that I had alone with this machine
Donald Buchla began makng electronic musical instruments in 1963 with his 100 series modules appearing in 1965, which introduced the concept of analog voltage control to musical instruments (bode did it in 1959 and moog in 1964 - Moog started work with Herb Deutsch on the first Moog modular systems in 1963). He then produced the 200 series modules in the early 1970s and continued developing systems and modules of greater complexity utilising digital control and eventually microprocessor control, culminating in the 700 system in the late 1980s. More recently Buchla introduced the 200e modules which he continues to develop
The five compositions were recorded directly to computer using overdubbing in places. No additional processing was applied. See below for a full overview of the Buchla 700 system
Track Listing:
1 - Chime One (5.06)
2 - Chime Two (4.56)
3 - Chime Three (3.06)

5 - Chime Five (11.24)
Total Duration (27.02)

released 15 June 2013
Recorded in Vancouver, BC, December 2012
Special thanks to R.Smith for the use of his Buchla700

X1L3 - circuit bent - synth mod - midi retrofit - Yamaha DD8 - 'the unclean'

"Turned out way better than i imagined it would.. Awesome glitched percussion machine. The smaller dd's aren't as unruly when glitched as the bigger dd11 and 12's and so control of them is a bit easier. Once mastered and whipped into form with the filter this is the result....
NIN year zero????"

LE STRUM - MIDI Strummed Chord Controller Kit
Published on Jun 16, 2013
"If you could breed an Omnichord with a Stylophone you might end up with some of these babies.... [or the Oberheim Strummer]
Use combinations of the buttons to select a chord type (maj, min, 7, maj7, min7, dim, aug) and root note. The chord is then mapped across the pads, which you play with a wired stylus, sending output by MIDI.
This is an old idea of mine that I've now turned into an open hardware kit, so anyone can make one. The updated firmware has some new goodies like guitar open chord fingerings, chord variations (sus4, add6, add9), two channel lead + chord drone and control over velocity.
Kit is available for purchase on Tindie at https://www.tindie.com/products/hotch... and the firmware/hardware source code is on GitHub at https://github.com/hotchk155/Voici-Le..."
FORMANTA P-432 - RARE VINTAGE SOVIET POLYPHONIC SYNTHESIZER
Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this auction
"Up for sale is EXTREMELY RARE Soviet vintage polyphonic digital preset synthesizer
"FORMANTA P-432". It is a compact polyphonic digital synth produced by Katchkanar radio equipment factory "Formanta", famous for such well-known synthesizers as Polivoks, Manual, Maestro etc.
Was designed for both solo and ensemble performance. It has a 3-octave keyboard, 32 timbres and 4-voice polyphony. UNISON and CHORUS effects are available. Sound modulation parameters: VIBRATO (with variable frequency and depth), tune adjustment and a joystick for controlling modulation and pitch in the real-time mode. A foot pedal is provided for switching on/off SUSTAIN and VIBRATO parameters (included).
The synthesizer has a two-digit display for representing a preset number and some other system parameters. In Formanta P-432, a standard MIDI protocol is used, making it possible to select any one of the 16 MIDI channels and to control the MIDI program change. On the rear panel, the following connectors are situated: MIDI IN/OUT/TRANSIT(THRU), LlNE OUT and SUSTAIN/VIBRATO PEDAL INPUT (standard 1/4TRS "jacks").
The preset table timbres vary from different types of pianos, organs, harmonicas up to different kinds of "soviet-type" synths. Presets #02,11,14,15,16,24,34,37 produce sonic FX (not sure whether it is a factory setting or some kind of bug). In general synth is fully functional, is in MINT cosmetic condition & comes in full factory set: Synth, Case, Pedal, Connection cables.
The mains power of the unit is 220 volts. For 110/127v countries I`ll include voltage converter.
The unit is EXTREMELY RARE & is hard to find by all means even in former USSR countries..."
