R.A.Moog modular lead solo "Too Much Caffeine"
Published on Aug 14, 2013 CZRider01·9 videos
"Lead patch using a 1969 R.A.Moog Modular with a pair of 901 oscillators and 904B High-Pass filter. The 904B gets the crazy resonance from a positive feedback loop through the CP3 mixer. Using a Moog 1120 pedal CV patched into the 904B for wah-wah effect. Background sequence from Minimoog and a Q960 sequencer. Minimoog is patched through the 907 fixed filter bank, 905 reverb, and a 902 VCA. Percussion via an Emu Procussion patched through an MOTM 420 in HP mode and MOTM 410 tripple resonator filter."
MIDIvampire-II: Drum Synth
Published on Aug 14, 2013
http://www.openmusiclabs.com/projects...
"MIDIvampire-II: A phantomly powered drum synth. It has 4 independent outputs, with attack, decay, release, FM, filter cutoff and sweep, wavetable selection, pitch, frequency sweep, and a bitcrusher."
"The MIDIvampire-II is a 4 voice drum machine, with independent outputs for each voice. It has 2 wavetable voices for making kick drums, toms, wood blocks, bells, and a host of other sounds. There is a voice set aside for hi-hats and cymbals, and another which is a filtered noise source, which can make snares and hollow-tube sounds. Each voice has separate attack, decay, and release, along with frequency sweep, and a bunch of other effects for warping the sounds to fit all your percussive needs.
All of the documentation, including the MIDI implementation is up on the MIDIvamp Wiki. And, if you want to pick one up, swing by the store and have a look."

DSI Prophet 12 unboxing video.
"Haven't managed to find a Prophet 12 in a shop in UK, as people keep buying them, but they seem fantastic so I took an expensive risk and ordered one from Mr Dave Smith in the US via Absolute Music It arrived yesterday so this is a video of the opening and my very first impressions out the box. Of course I'll do more videos with more of the sound."

Getting More Tracks on the Octatrack
Published on Aug 13, 2013 Catabolicdj·31 videos
"Here's a way to expand the number of sounds you can get out of a single track and pattern on the Elektron Octatrack. This uses the Spatializer FX available on a recent OS update. Place one monophonic drum sound on the left channel of a sample and a different one on the right. Then use FX and scenes as shown to make a drum pattern with trigs. Not a musical statement, just a tips/tutorial video to show the idea. There is a follow-up video which shows this trick using loops at http://youtu.be/IOCrqlypsgY. HD video available."

Robocop's Murphy's Law / Закон Мерфи by Soviet Space Child
via Soviet Space Child, also posted on MATRIXSYNTH-C.
Synths: The first sound that you hear is the Q+. The chimes and pad that follow are the XTk 30. The brassy parts which come in at 0:46. and again at 2:17 are the Alesis Andromeda A6.
The track: "This is my first attempt at a cover, in this case giving the Robocop theme an 80's makeover, where the original was an orchestral score.
I haven't seen this movie in a very long time, and I never realized how dark it was. As a kid, I remember liking it because it was about a badass robot who shot up the bad guys. In reality, it's a film about a normal guy who loses his humanity. Dark stuff indeed. The new film has some very big shoes to fill."
Next Analog Lab Tech Mentoring Course Starts 9.10.13!
"The Analog Lab's next Tech Mentoring Course Starts 9.10.13!
Do you wish you were able to fix and maintain your own gear? Ever wanted to know what an oscilloscope does and how to use it?
Twice a year, the Analog Lab offers a complete technical hands-on mentoring program for those individuals who have an interest in being a professional gear tech or gear designer. Classes meet twice a week for 10 weeks and cover subjects such as electronic safety, components, circuit design (using examples from classic analog synths), etc. Each student chooses their own final repair or build project so you come away with a new or restored piece of gear! Jeff Blenkinsopp, The Sonic Wizard, administers classes and has been involved with analog synthesizers and their design and repair for more than 30 years. You can read more of Jeff’s bio here: http://www.earsnyc.com/blenkinsopp.html
You will leave the course with a “real world” education that you can’t get anywhere else!
There are no more than 6 students to a class, and only a few spots left so don’t delay in signing up!" You can sign up by emailing The Analog Lab at theanaloglab at gmail.com.
