"This was produced at a time when the Yamaha DX7 ruled the roost in the digital world and Roland's Jupiter held sway in the analogue world. Akai were working with Roger Linn on the Linn Drum as well as developing their early samplers [This has a sampler socket which apparently means you could control the S-612 and later Samplers from the keyboard] It's an analogue synth but digitally controlled [on board or over MIDI] and it can make some really fat sounds. The pads are smooth and blend well in a mix, or you can pile all the oscillators on top of each other in mono-mode to get a screaming lead or full-bodied bass out of it . There are various demos of AX73's on youtube if you want an idea of what it can do in the right hands..."

Beilfuss Step Synthesizer Fireside Chat

"Back in the basement with Keith Williams, we focus our attention on the right side of the Beilfuss Step Synthesizer. This side turns out to be an awful lot like the left side, which makes sense if you watch the video.

We are also treated to some audio samples of what you can do with this instrument. Granted, that basement reverb is something you're going to have to add yourself!"

Beilfuss Step Synthesizer Comes Blinking Out Of The Basement
Uploaded on Mar 26, 2011

"Once-ler-like, Keith Williams demonstrates his Step Synth with disembodied, gesturing arms. The seemingly shy inventor simply wants to focus all attention on his new Step synthesizer.

According to the Beilfuss Synthesizer Company:

This thought-through system is the optimization of flexibility with controllability for keyboard. The step synthesizer brings new, never before heard, electronic sounds to music.

Unlike any analog or digital synthesizer's controls, the patented tone control consists of sixteen steps simply outlining the waveform as set by the Signal Controls you see at the left of the control panel. Similarly, the envelope and filter contour transients and their time intervals are also set by the Signal Controls for rhythms or extended notes. You may easily add prompted, parallel voicings, combining settings of both sides for complex notes. There are 32 controls and 142 pushbuttons for direct programming. Dedicated LED pushbuttons always read out their side of the full eight octave, split keyboard. Five octaves of transposition are possible.

See what you think in this introductory demo!"

Random Reaktor Stuff 05

Published on Nov 8, 2013 BrontoScorpioMusic·6 videos

"Yay! Another Reaktor jam!

The rate of the trigger sequencer gets modulated by the rate sequencer while the sample sequencer chooses which samples gets triggered.
The sequencer then triggers the choosen sample and sends triggers to the "Trigger Counter".

The "Trigger Counter" simply counts the incoming triggers and triggers the kick on each event, the snare on every fifth event and so on.
The synth and sub voice choose a different pitch from some predefined values on each trigger.
The sub voice (which is a simple triangle wave) also gets "ducked" by the kick.

The sampler gets processed by the "Sound Destruction" instrument, which gets modulated by some recursive LFOs.

The whole thing then goes through some light EQ and saturation."

Drum Box: Korg Electribe ER-1

Published on Nov 8, 2013 my4trackmachine·110 videos

"In the late 90's Korg came out with the Electribe series marketed to groove box producers seeking an affordable setup. One of these boxes turned out to be the ER-1, a quite capable analog modeling drum machine. If you couldn't afford a 909, 808, or other such classics this was not a bad way to go. With the ER-1's fully programable and automatable features you could get some unique sounds not heard of by other machines. The sequencer was built after the Roland TR series making it a highly intuitive and powerful little box that you can get for a decent price even today."
