In this video we see a live demo / rehearsal for the Drew Blanke (Dr Blankenstein) for his presentation for MAKE magazine at Moogfest 2014. The jam is based loosely around the Kraftwerk classic "Pocket Calculator" off their "Computer World" album. Keep in mind this is live, and unedited.... just a raw jam on 4 circuit bent pieces.

The pieces include a Mattel Bee-Gee's "Rhythm Machine" keyboard, Casio ML-831 Musical "Pocket Calculator", a built from the ground up custom Stylophone and a prototype for the APC2600 V2.6. All pieces have the ILLUMIRINGER device modification kit installed in them, although most of the demo is featuring the pocket calculator in ILLUMIRINGER mode. Only reverb has been added to the mix via the mixer. The beat was made on an Electribe ER-1 and sampled into a Boss loop pedal.

Sorry about the slightly out of tune Stylophone in the beginning, it's needs to be left on for a bit to warm up and get into tune (kinda like an old moog). Hey, that's rock n' roll. It's worked into the jam nicely... so why not let it roll.

Stay tuned for individual demos of each piece in this video coming at you THIS MONTH (I promise, I know we have been slacking on the videos:) Thanks for watching, please remember to SUBSCRIBE and follow the twitter link up top to stay up to date on the newest Dr. Blankenstein creations.

"Single owner CS-80 that has just been serviced by a cs-80 specialist. The power supply and tsb1 and 2 (touch sensor buffer)boards are new rebuilds. These are high-level restoration kits offering continued reliable operation. The unit was tuned to yamaha specifications as well and needs a good while to warm up before it's in tune. -comes with original stand, pedals, casters and carrying case - all of which go into a massive anvil case in very good condition with new foam. This synth was used by owner mostly between 1979 and 1982 and has spent many years in it's case. The keyboard plays great and the ribbon controller appears unused and functions properly..."

"A very rare opportunity to own a fully working Yamaha CS60. More portable than the CS80 and more expressive than the CS50, the CS60 is the ideal way to get those amazing Blade Runner/Chariots of Fire sounds which Vangelis created on the CS80. Other CS80 fans include Eddie Jobson who created fantastic layered textures and leads for "UK" and other bands, and Klaus Schulze.

The CS60 is eight-note polyphonic, fully analogue with variable resonance filters and has a velocity and aftertouch sensitive keyboard. Aftertouch can bring in vibrato, tremolo and filter opening just like on the CS80. Also as on the CS80, the CS60 has a fantastic voltage controlled ring modulator which creates huge clanging bell-like and metallic sounds - these are all over the 'Blade Runner' soundtrack and the music of Klaus Schulze - and a pitch strip which bends notes down to the sub-audio region..."

"This is the factory "S" version (not upgraded after the fact), with full sampling capabilities, and loaded with almost every major option that was available (minus the KDFX).

P-Ram
Piano board
Contemporary board
Orchestral board

It also has a hard drive built in (540mb, which was typical at the time). Only 8mb sample ram currently installed, but it's a negligible cost to max these out."
