Akai VX600 SN #1

SN 30740-00001 via Christopher Steller on Facebook

"Demonstrator prototype — with Matrixsynth Jones."

Note the Peavy Paradox as well.

Update via Michael McRoberts who worked at Akai back in the day: "I'm not quite sure what to make of the serial number. At that time, numbers 0001 and 0002 were usually engineering prototypes in Japan. 0003 would go to the US for demos."

That is one interesting case. Usually the Estradin-230 is all black.

"This is Soviet synth Estradin-230. The most successful copy of MINIMOOG (ever made in USSR).

The synth is in very good cosmetic and functional condition. It is really nice monophonic analog synth with 3 OSCs and VCF. Please see its specification here."

"ARP Odyssey Mk2
Model number 2811
Serial number 0044

As can be seen from the photos, this ARP Odyssey has been modified by the removal of the keyboard and the addition of 3.5mm jack sockets for extra CV and audio inputs and outputs. There is also a round multi pin connector fitted, but I don't know what it is for. Possibly for the removed keyboard, which I don't have. It was already modified when I got it about 8 years ago in a part exchange deal. I assume that it was done by Analogue Solutions, as there is one of their stickers on the front panel. Cosmetically, it is not brilliant with quite a few scratches and chips to the panel paintwork. It has not been serviced or any parts replaced since I have had it. When I got it a few sliders were stiff and a couple of them were crackling. So I opened it up and lubricated all sliders, switches and sockets with contact cleaner, and it has been working fine since then. As far as I can tell everything is working properly. I have played it with a midi keyboard with a midi to CV/gate convertor, and recently I checked it with a QuNexus keyboard.

Internally, it didn't look too bad, although not very clean. it looks like it might have been poorly stored as the solder joints looked dull and some metal parts are rusty.

The labelling on the fitted sockets could do with replacing as they are starting to peel off and the print is fading. Here is a list of the sockets. All socket are working. I checked them using my Eurorack setup.

Mutable Instruments Shruthi-1 Yellow Magic Edition

"Hybrid Analog Mono Synth (Digital Waveforms/Analog Filter)
- Allows best of both worlds. Use traditional waveforms, complex waveforms and wavetable style synthesis through fully Analog Filter and VCA stage.

The Yellow Magic Edition features a moody and sometimes screaming low-pass filter inspired by the MS-20 LPF; and a low-fi digital delay. The delay has a minimal EQ section in its feedback loop, creating brooding, dark echoes or dub build-ups."
