Plan B Model 17 Triple Event Timer: the one nobody "got"
Published on Jan 17, 2016 Peter Grenader
"Of all the 26 products in the Plan B line, this was the only one which tanked. Few understood it, but those who did got more than 1. While it is not being exercised close to it's full potential in this video, you can get a description of what it was capable of here:

Synthesizers.com Q107 MS20-Style Filter Sweep

"Two Q107 filters in series - highpass followed by lowpass, a bit of resonance on both, simulating a Korg MS20 kind of thing. Recorded straight via an Apogee Duet into an iPhone 5. The VCO outputs are attenuated quite a bit before they hit the filters to reduce crazy distortion, and it still sounds pretty badass. i'm controlling both filters' cutoff with a Q125 Signal Generator into a mult, just so i can control both filters with one knob. Sequencer is the Q960/Q963 with a Q128 Switch to break up the triggers and a Q961 to set the gate time, and a Q117 S&H to hold the CVs over the non-triggered steps."

You'll find it online here.
"It allows you to compose and manipulate 64-step sequences and upload in browser directly to soundcloud. I'd be happy for you to post the above on your blog if you find it relevant."

"This is an amazing synth module is a faithful recreation of the original Minimoog, with several impressive innovations. Its onboard programmable effects processor including delay and other must-haves gives this baby huge sound. Adjustable velocity control of filter and amp sections adds more expression than the original would allow you. Built-in filter overload, external input to filter, and best of all, 12-voice polyphony make this just about the most formidable Minimoog clone ever made. Extensive midi implementation gives you control over even more features.
I updated the firmware on this unit two years ago. This is difficult to do if you don't have access to a system running Windows XP (so bear that in mind if you're considering buying a similar unit from anyone else!). The firmware update solves many of the initial bugs which users compalined about early on..."

"It's a wonderful bass oriented synth, almost like having three TB 303's in one box that could be played monophonically, polyphonically (for chords), or in unison for a monster four oscillator sound. It's built like a tank, is completely analog (no DCO's here), and has an incredibly robust step sequencer with pattern chaining and auto fill (part A or part B for every sequence). There's a myriad of sync options as well for the sequencer including MIDI and analog triggers so it will integrate perfectly into a modular synth set up. Also, it makes a fantastic and compact MIDI controller.
It's a bit of a sleeper box but the sound quality is really good and is capable of making some amazing bass patches and really aggressive sequences with the onboard distortion."

Dave Smith Instruments DSM02 Character Eurorack Module
via this auction
"From the DSI site:
Give Your Modular Some Character
Dave Smith strikes again with a new offering for modular synthesizer users — the DSM02 Character Module. It’s a sound designer’s tool kit of five unique digital effects for shaping, twisting, and mangling sound in subtle and not-so-subtle ways. These effects, Girth, Air, Decimate, Hack, and Drive form the Character section of DSI’s acclaimed Prophet 12 and Pro 2 synthesizers and contribute to their distinctive tone in a big way.
“Girth” provides low-frequency harmonic enhancement for adding weight and density.
“Air” provides high-frequency harmonic enhancement for adding definition and presence.
“Decimate” performs sample rate reduction for adding lo-fi grunge.
“Hack” is a bit crusher capable of trashing an otherwise clean signal nearly beyond recognition.
“Drive” adds overdrive and saturation, with warmth at one end of the knob and harmonic overload at the other.
Plug It and Play It
The DSM02 is a 14 HP Eurorack-format module with interconnections made using 3.5 mm phone jacks. Two independent audio inputs and two independent audio outputs with shared control allow mono or stereo operation. A 24-bit, 96 kHz resolution digital signal path provides uncompromising signal fidelity.
Inject Some Mojo into Your System
If you’re looking to take your modular system into new sonic territory, the DSM02 may be just the ticket. It’s a fast and affordable way to inject your system with some serious mojo from two of the world’s most in-demand synths.

This is the Korg Polysix with the Kiwisix upgrade. This demo features both original patches and factory presets. The main advantage of the Polysix is the 3-BBD chip ensemble effect, which shares the likes of ARP Solina and many others.
Another really cool feature is the external filter control input. No, it cannot filter external sounds. But it can take voltages from external devices like a sequencer and use that to step-modulate the filter.
The Polysix is also good at arpeggios and bass. What's better than bass?...more bass!...you can stack all six voices in unison mode for insane bass action.
There is a trick you can do to achieve filter high-resonance self-oscillation, and nothing else. To defeat the main oscillators, set the OSC to Pulse Width and set the Width to maximum. Make sure the sub osc is also turned off.
0:00 Choir sound, filter self-oscillation FX
0:28 to 2:24 Filter is being modulated, via the external filter control jack, by a control voltage coming from the Beatstep Pro
2:24 to 3:22 String Ensemble
ALL synthesizer sounds originate from the Polysix. A Volca Beats provided rhythm backing, Big Sky and Timefactor for effects. All tracks were recorded direct to Cubase SX3 via E-mu 1616. NO additional production, eq, compressors, mastering, etc. was used. "
