"Today we are excited to announce the Subsequent 37 CV. This limited-edition redesign of the ultra-powerful Sub 37 Tribute Edition analog synthesizer is limited to 2000 pieces worldwide, with the first 125 units built live on-site at Moogfest 2017.

Anchored by a pair of solid aluminum side pieces inset with North American hardwood and affixed to a rugged steel and aluminum enclosure, it features four assignable CV outputs and two assignable Gate outputs for interconnectivity with large-format and Eurorack modular systems, an upgraded keybed for improved playability, a high-powered headphone amplifier for live-monitoring, and a modified analog signal path.

"Special Stage Systems has taken the SN76489AN chip that was the sound chip in many 80's video game machines and built a synthesizer voice around it with function generators, CV controls and presets. The Oscilliographic Block can create great 8-bit drum sounds and melody lines. It has two square wave voices and a noise voice with white and periodic noise types. There are 6 programmable function generators that can produce smooth or stepped waveforms. These function generators can be used like modulators, LFOs, envelopes or sequencers. 4 CV inputs can control pitch, amplitude and the speed of the function generators. The clock that runs the SN chip can even be adjusted to over or underclock for different pitch ranges. There is a 1V/octave scaling for playing the sounds in tune as well.

"Exploring drones and feedback with the AWM3. By routing the 1+2 mix out to channel 2's input and 2+3 out to channel 3's input, the Make Noise STO's sine output is mangled into a multi-stage feedback loop of growls, whistles, crackles, and sizzling textural material. Animated by the Mannequins Just Friends's six outputs, each stage of wavefolding is manipulated slightly out of time, creating an evolving drone that never quite repeats. The VSL AWM3 isn't just a mixer, isn't just a wavefolder: it's a machine for creating knotted, gnarly textures, sputters, distortion, and more.

The AWM-3 by Vintage Synth Lab is a complex wave-shaping, 3-channel analog mixer module that allows for precision control over compression and waveshaping per channel. The ability to output various mixes concurrently via the mixer's multiple outputs can result in a diverse palette of complex chorus-like timbres. In addition to offering individual control per input, each channel can also be connected in series to create double and triple wave-folded signals. "Unique was made for fun and vibes: Analogue sound, intense modulation and a killer set of features, delivering an amazing sonic spectrum that’s full of character: Classy sounds, powerful, warm… sometimes gritty.

Each of the 2 oscillators offers a selection of 5 waveforms: sawtooth and pulse waves are here, along with noise, triple saw and triple FM waves. There's also an additional sub-oscillator strapped into the master section for added oomph.

The internal controllers will bring in the dynamics: an LFO and an envelope, there's a recordable XY field & a sequencer. Use these to modulate any knob – a simple long tap will do.

The sound springs to life when it hits the filter section. Needless to say, analogue high-pass, low-pass and band-pass varieties are in place, along with a comb filter.

Standards aside, the actual intention behind this project, the Vowel Filter, also became its outstanding feature: string together two or four vowel formants and play them back in a multitude of ways.

WMD Test Lab Performance - William Mathewson

"William, the founder and lead designer at WMD hardly finds time in his busy schedule to make music anymore. However, to celebrate the release of the Arpitecht, our newest module, he put a patch together showing off what he had in mind when designing the module.

The result was an awesome, lo-fi vibe paired with a half-time, hip hop style beat that brought every one in the shop out to the front room to see what was going on. We had a blast filming this performance and hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it."
